Sea Otter Awareness Week Talk
Annual Sea Otter Awareness Week talk on Thursday, September 24 in the CSUMB University Living Room at 7PM. The speaker will be Chris Law from Tim Tinker's lab at UCSC, who will be talking about why some sea otters are chest bangers and others are jaw crunchers when it comes to eating.

The Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS) is one of the largest, professional conferences for underrepresented minority students, military veterans, and persons with disabilities to pursue advanced training in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Central Coast GIS Day - November 18th
Join us at the MPC Satellite campus in Marina for the Central Coast GIS Day. Learn about Geographic Information Systems and how they are being used in our area. We will be hearing presentations from U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), University of California Santa Cruz (UCSC), Monterey Peninsula College (MPC), SeaSpatial, Monterey Bay National Marina Sanctuary (MBNMS) and there will also be a live Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) demo.

GIS Interactive Mapping Project Intern
Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch Program
Application deadline: 9/10/15
The GIS intern will work with Seafood Watch Partnership Program Manager to develop an online, interactive map highlighting the location/information/logo of 150+ Conservation Partners of Seafood Watch. Most are located in North America with some global representation.

Monterey Bay Unified Air Pollution Control District

The District invites students and teachers in Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz Counties to apply for grants that use creativity and imagination, to help the District improve air quality and build a better future with informed and motivated young people. Hollis SCUBA - Electrical Engineer Intern
Application deadline: 9/9/2015
Hollis in the process of updating their rebreather line. They need to set up a series of test to validate the new circuit board design. This will include building a simulated lung to be used in their pressure tank.
The intern will work closely with the design and manufacturing team in developing test procedures/fixtures.
Depending on candidates experience duties could include assisting in developing test plan, circuit design and fabrication, microcontroller programming, basic CAD and 3D printing.

Groundwater Research Scholarship
Groundwater Resource Association of California Scholarship
The Central Coast branch of the Groundwater Resources Association of California (GRAC) has scholarship funds up to $2500 available for distribution to college and graduate students performing research on groundwater resources in the Central Coast branch region (generally, Monterey, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties). GRAC wishes to support student research related to groundwater issues, water resources management, water recycling and other proposals related to groundwater research. We also have funds available for students who would like to attend the 30th Biennial Groundwater Conference & 24th Groundwater Resources Association of Calif ornia Annual Meeting in Sacramento on October 6 & 7, 2015.
