ExxonMobil, one of the world's largest publically traded International oil & gas companies, has partnered with the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) to create fellowships in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) for
Hispanic college students. Through HHF's Latinos On Fast Track (LOFT) program, ExxonMobil seeks to nurture motivated college students across the country, with a passion for Engineering and Science.
Selected students will be exposed to a top quality company by participating in this signature mentoring program. Each student will be paired up with one of ExxonMobil engineers/scientists to learn how their knowledge is applied in a corporate setting.
The Fellowship consists of: five 1-hour meetings with mentor (virtual or in person), participation in the
Harvard-certified ExxonMobil mentee program (on-line), an exclusive curriculum to introduce Fellows to the organization and company career opportunities, and a
$ 1,000 educational grant. In addition, there exists the possibility to interview for ExxonMobil positions (internships/full-time) upon successful completion of the Fellowship.
Fellowship Requirements
This opportunity is highly competitive and open to
sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students attending a 4 year college or university.

FEE 2013-2014 Fellowship Opportunity
The purpose of the California Foundation on the Environment and the Economy (CFEE) is to bring together business, labor, community, and environmental leadership with legislative and regulatory officials and expert academics, in forums designed to address fundamental environmental and economic infrastructure issues. CFEE focuses on policy issues in the area of energy, water, transportation infrastructure, information and communication technologies, as well as air quality and climate change. The forums, roundtable conferences and workshops, as well as international study travel projects, engender positive discussions of creative solutions in an atmosphere of non-adversarial cooperation and a common desire to achieve long-term beneficial solutions for society.
Job Description: CFEE is seeking a full-time Fellow (intern) to provide support and coordination for CFEE through the execution of responsibilities critical to the success of the Foundation's mission. The Fellow will report to the President, and will act in coordination with senior staff.
Salary, Hours and Duration: $37,500 - $40,000 per year. Range is due to the fact that CFEE's summer schedule is often lighter than the fall, and the fellow may be started at 4 days/week (32 hours) and increased to Full Time as work load picks up (no more than three months part time). In addition to pay, fellow has the option for medical benefits, and the opportunity to travel within the state and internationally for CFEE events.

*UC Davis Dept. Surgery Pre-Medical Surgical Internship Summer 2013
This is a unique opportunity open to all pre-medical students to be mentored by faculty, residents, interns, and medical students in the nationally recognized UC Davis Health System Department of Surgery.
This program is open to ALL pre-medical students regardless of year, academic standing, or academic institution. If you are interested in a career in medicine you are eligible to apply!
All undergraduate, graduate, and post-baccalaureate students from all institutions planning on applying to medical school are eligible. This includes community college, CSU, UC, private university, and graduating high school students who are at least 17 years old.
Setting
The site for the program is the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, CA. This 650-bed hospital is the major teaching affiliate for the UC Davis School of Medicine. The Hospital serves an area of tremendous diversity in both cultural and socioeconomic background. It is a Level 1 Trauma Center, and home to the only burn center, children's hospital, and transplant center in Northern California. Furthermore, it is the only institution of its kind in Northern California. It is one of the five busiest Trauma Centers in the country and has been featured in multiple television programs. Their focus of service to those most in need underpins the teaching activities in this setting.

Details
This is not a volunteering or shadowing program. This is a mentorship where you will be interacting with multiple physicians in the Department of Surgery. You will be working directly with physicians every step of the way, from seeing patients in the intensive care unit, to pre-operative, post-operative, bedside, trauma bay, operating rooms, clinics, conferences, journal clubs and rounds. You will experience the duties physicians perform on a daily basis. You will be part of the team and regarded as such. This program is under the supervision and guidelines set forth by the Chairman of Surgery at the UC Davis Health System.

*CIEE Research Station Bonaire Scientific Diving Opportunity
Students can spend their summer studying coral reef ecosystems through theoretical exploration and field experiences that use the renowned Bonaire National Marine Park as a living classroom.
Our summer program is a two-session study abroad program which introduces students to scientific diving methods before allowing them to use those skills to explore an amazing diversity of marine life and ecological processes on coral reefs, as well as the conservation of tropical marine ecosystems.
Students will:
- Master scuba skills and use these skills, and tools such as photography and videography equipment, to document and understand the ecology of coral reefs and associated ecosystems
- Focus on theoretical concepts in coral reef ecology and conservation through interactive lectures and field trips to coral reef ecosystems, and learn to identify reef fish, corals, and other organisms and their behavioral interactions.

The Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge is hiring! The biology program is looking for 10-15 Biological Science Technicians for the summer of 2013 to assist with our long-term seabird monitoring program. Technicians will be collecting data on breeding chronology, reproductive success, population changes, adult survival, and food habits of 15 species of seabirds (including storm-petrels, cormorants, kittiwakes, murres, pigeon guillemots, auklets, and puffins). The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is currently advertizing two student programs for students in oceanic, environmental, biological and atmospheric sciences, mathematics, engineering, remote sensing, physical and social sciences including geography, physics, hydrology, geomatics, or teacher education. Many of the disciplines NOAA employees study overlap with USDA.

*Colorado Ecosystem Field Studies- Summer 2013 Courses
Colorado Ecosystem Field Studies (CEFS) course is held near Boulder, Colorado. CEFS is a 17-day, 3 undergraduate credit field-camp class in which students learn fundamental concepts & essential research methods in ecosystem science.The class is accredited through the Environmental Studies Program of the University of Montana at Missoula (ENST 391.) It is open to all undergraduates in ecosystem related majors including environmental studies/science, biology/life science, geology/earth science or geography. Permaculture Alternative Spring Break in Nicaragua Lost Valley Educational Center (a sustainability education center and aspiring ecovillage in Oregon) and partner community Hijos del Maiz (a local village benefit association in northern Nicaragua) are offering Permaculture Alternative Spring Break courses on location in Nicaragua this March. The experience will be a unique combination of daily bilingual permaculture classes, a related hands-on service project, and semi-private Spanish lessons by professional instructors. Students stay with experienced host families in a tight-knit community with a tragic history, a flowering present, and a belief in social justice. All this in the warm, dry tropics, in a program where participants are taken care of the entire time while in country.
