This 'n That

John Spring got the meeting started with a prayer. On the heels of "Amen", Eric Barnes projected an "I'" into the hall to begin the Pledge of Allegiance.

We did not conduct a card draw or any Tail-Twisting activities last week so the pot of $313 remains to be claimed this Friday.

President Haugh was not in attendance so Vice-President Brian Koch handled the meeting. His first order of business was to announce that the Club will NO longer meet at Stoney Creek. A permanent location is in the works. In the short-term, we will meet this Friday at The Eagles Nest across from the Oakley Lindsey Center. Let's just say the landlord "raised" the rent and we moved out!

With that said, we will need to remove the risers used for the head table from Stoney Creek. We will need about 6 to 8 guys to help load the risers into Dick Wentura's truck - check your emails to find out when we can get in to get our stuff!

Congratulations go out to Cullan Duke as he was promoted to Office Manager at Klingner & Associates.

Condolences to The Welper family as Vic lost his Aunt, Janet Oberling, who passed away last week.
Speaking of Vic, he brought Chris Bockius, the Strength & Wellness Director of Excel Performance at 8th and State Streets as his guest last Friday.

Exchange Minute

Moving on...

This Friday will mark the third time the Quincy Exchange Club has met 300 S 3rd Street - all with a different name. Throughout the club's 70 year history, weekly meetings have taken place at a number of different venues.

In the beginning, and for many years thereafter, the club met at the Lincoln-Douglas hotel. Later, the club moved the first time to 300 S 3rd - then known as the Ramada Inn. The club also met at the old Holiday Inn (then known as the Days Inn and now the Budget Host), and moved over to the "new" Holiday Inn (now the Quality Inn).

When the new owners raised the prices, all of the service clubs that were meeting there moved elsewhere - The Exchange Club moved to Tony's on Hampshire Street. When Tony's closed the restaurant on Hampshire, the Club moved again to 300 S 3rd - this time as America's Best Value Inn. New management at the Inn determined that a different franchise was the way to go, along with turning the banquet room into a restaurant meant that we needed to move again - this time to Stoney Creek.

This week, we move (at least temporarily) back to what is now known as the Eagle's Nest, while the search is on for something a little more permanent.
