This Friday
Happy New Year! This Friday the topic will be college basketball with Coach Marty Bell of Quincy University and Coach Brad Hoyt of John Wood Community College. This is a good meeting to invite a prospective member to Quincy's Finest Hour!

Friday (Wednesday) Last

With no meeting Friday, we altered our Wednesday plans for our Christmas Party and moved the event to the Stoney Creek Inn from the Quincy Boat Club due to high water on the Mississippi River. It was a good chance to enjoy some wonderful food, adult drinks and socialize with the other club members.

This 'n That

The low-light of the meeting took place when Jeff Dorsey (that be me) presented The News into a "low volume" microphone. Perhaps it wasn't low enough. For some reason, unbeknownst to this reporter, the moans and groans from the audience seemed louder than any of the laughter during the news. Maybe it was just me. After reviews from other Club members after The News, it became obvious that the audition for a spot with WGEM or KHQA did not go as well as planned. So it looks like this Club is "stuck" with Dorsey! I did manage to get the Club members to sing "Chet's Nuts Roasting on an Open Fire".

Apparently, there were several Club members who didn't get the word that the Christmas Party was moved. This information was relayed in last week's bulletin and also was emailed to all members. If you are not getting the bulletin each week or the emails periodically sent out, please let Dennis Koch know.

We will return to our 50-50 Card-Draw this Friday. The pot was last reported to be $200 unless Santa ripped it off to pass out Christmas bonuses to the elves.

It was good to see Glen Swick and Mark Aleman back with us again. Both men have applied for re-instatement to the Club. Why would they do that?

Joke of the Week

An elderly couple had just learned how to send text messages on their cell phones. The wife was a romantic type and the husband was more of a no-nonsense type guy. One afternoon, the wife went out to meet a friend for coffee. As she waited for her friend to arrive, she decided to send her husband a romantic text message and she wrote:
"If you are sleeping, send me your dreams".
"If you are laughing, send me your smile."
"If you are eating, send me a bite."
"If you are drinking, send me a sip."
"If you are crying, send me your tears. I love you".
The husband texted back to her and said.
"I'm on the toilet. Please advise".

Exchange Minute

Club Milestone

Coming up this March, the Exchange Club of Quincy hits another milestone anniversary - 70 years of Quincy's Finest Hour!

We're looking for some input from the membership in how that milestone should be celebrated - if you have any thoughts on the matter, please let Jared know.
