Remember we will gather for our Club Holiday/Christmas Party tomorrow, December 30th (Wednesday) at 11:00. Due to high water on the Mississippi we will NOT meet at the Quincy Boat Club. The Party has been moved to Stoney Creek Inn. There will be some great food and adult beverages available for all. With the year's end, the year's final edition of "The News" will be presented along with a few other surprises. It's always a fun gathering with an open bar as well. Hope to see all of you!

This might be a great week to give some thought to whom might make a good club member in 2016. We can always use new people in our Club.

Congratulations to Chris Parker who becomes the new Executive Director of Cornerstone. He assumes his new duties on Friday replacing the retiring John Hirner. Good luck Chris. One of Chris' first duties is to sign up as many Exchangites for the new fund-raiser "Dancing with the Alcoholics". 2016 is going to be a great year.

Don't forget to read your latest "Exchange Today" magazine which was recently mailed to you. Our club is featured on Page 26. It is a very nice write up about our Club.

Joke of the Week

Santa was having a crappy day at the North Pole. The elves were behind in getting the toys ready, the furnace went out, Mrs. Claus had a long list of things for him to do before he left on his trek, his phone was ringing off the hook asking for donations and he was cranky and tired. He just sat down in his recliner when the doorbell rang. He got up complaining all the way to the door. He opened the door and there stood an angel with a Christmas tree who asked Santa "Where would you like for me to put it?" And now you know how the Angel got on top of the Christmas tree!

Community Assessment

It's always good for a club to look at the projects it carries out in the community to see what is needed.
Recently, a member asked why we don't visit the Vet's Home at Christmas anymore. For the younger members, the club used to visit the Home before Christmas with Santa and deliver small gifts (such as pencils and apples). This was a tradition that the Club had carried on for years. One year, the members noticed that the nurses were gathering up the pencils and fruit as soon as we had passed them out.

When questioned about it, the nurses pointed out that the residents weren't allowed to have sharp objects, nor could most of them have apples - our project no longer served a need.
