This Friday
Hearing Impaired 2011 I trust you won your pinky-wishbone battles at the Thanksgiving table. Friday is one of our best meetings of the year as we hold the HEARING IMPAIRED CHRISTMAS PROGRAM. If you are not in the Christmas spirit when you arrive this Friday for the meeting, you will be when you leave. The kid's will perform their play and Santa will visit.
Friday Last

There was no meeting so enjoy "The 5th Night After Thanksgiving"

'T'was 5 nights after Thanksgiving, but I just couldn't sleep.
I tried counting backwards, I tried counting sheep
The leftovers of last Thursday beckoned--The dark meat and white,
But I fought the temptation with all of my might.

Tossing and turning with anticipation,
The thought of a snack became infatuation,
So I raced to the kitchen, flung open the door,
And gazed at the fridge full of goodies galore.
I gobbled up the leftover turkey and buttered potatoes,
Pickles and carrots, beans and tomatoes.

I felt myself swelling so plump and so round,
Till all of a sudden, I rose off the ground!

I crashed through the ceiling, floating into the sky,
With a mouthful of pudding and a handful of pie,
But I managed to yell as I soared past the trees,
HAPPY POST THANKSGIVING EATING TO ALL! PASS THE CRANBERRIES PLEASE!

This 'n That

Just a reminder our December 11th meeting will be entirely about remembering Mel Dillman. We will all be sharing our best Mel Dillman stories that day. If you know a friend of Mel's who might like to share a Dillman story (and there were hundreds of stories out there), please invite them to the meeting on the 11th. An Exchange Club service for Mel will be held at Christ Lutheran Church on South 36th Street at 10:20 on Saturday, December 12th followed by a gathering of Mel's friends after that.

The Special Olympics Basketball Tournament is this Sunday at Quincy University beginning at 9 am. Thanks to everyone for stepping up to be scorekeepers and referees for this wonderful event. There will be 14 to 16 teams with some 140 to 160 special Olympians performing. A special thanks goes to Refreshment Services Pepsi for donating t-shirts for all of the players and workers. A grandiose Championship game will take place around 3pm featuring cheerleaders and David Adam's play-by-play will make things even more special for these wonderful Special Olympians. This event was resurrected by a Rich Lavery request with Perry Terwelp and Steve Green jumping in to organize it. Thanks guys for your hard work ...and you too Rich.

The Give a Kid a Chance Christmas Dinner is this Friday night at 6:30. The event will be at the Senior Center and Charlie Ledbetter could use some help in serving some 200 to 225 people. This year's event will also feature the Chaddock kids as well. So Santa will be pressed into action for lunch and dinner this Friday.
In case you missed it, since no one was there to play the game, no one won the 50-50 pot last Friday.

It is a busy weekend for the Club as our annual Spouses Christmas Party will be held at Drakes Restaurant in Quincy this Saturday (December) at 6:30. Thanks to Dennis Koch for organizing this event. Please plan on attending this no cost event with your wife or girlfriend... but not both.

Line (Joke) of the Week

A man buys a parrot. Once he gets it home the parrot starts swearing like a Russian sailor. Every time the parrot opens its mouth a swear word come out of it. After repeated warnings to stop swearing the Parrot still remained vulgar.

One day, it gets to be too much, so the guy grabs the bird by the throat, shakes him really hard, and yells, "QUIT IT!" But this just makes the bird mad and he swears more than ever.

At that point, the guy is so mad that he throws the bird into the freezer. For the first few seconds the bird kicks and claws and thrashes. Then it suddenly gets very quiet.

At first the guy just waits, but then he starts to think that the bird may be hurt. After a couple of minutes of silence, the worried guy opens up the freezer door. The parrot calmly climbs onto the man's out-stretched arm and says, "My apologies for being so disrespectful with my nasty language. I am so sorry about the trouble I gave you. I'll do my best to improve my vocabulary from now on."

The man is astounded. He can't understand the transformation that has come over the parrot. Then the parrot says, "By the way, pardon me for asking, but can you tell me what the Thanksgiving Turkey did?"
