Club Meets at Noon each Friday at Stoney Creek Inn, 3809 Broadway in Quincy
2012-2013 Lincolnland District Exchange Clubs Best Bulletin Award Winner
This Friday
Question Mark

We have a speaker this week that none of us is going to want to miss. If you fail to be there you will kick yourself for not making the time. So clear your calendar so you can be at what will certainly be a revealing meeting. Our speaker is so revealing that even I don't know who it is. He or she will reveal her name Friday. How's that for making lemonade out of lemons.

Friday Last

We "Tipped-Off" the Silver Anniversary of Gus Macker last Friday with our annual pre-Macker meeting as Co-Chairs, Steve Green and Perry Terwelp gave us the last minute details of this year's event. Steve and Perry passed out the shirts for workers to wear and reviewed some of the set up things going on. One glitch was the lack of prisoners to assist this year but several members stepped up to assist. The Macker team was with us as well with Marshall Newman as the head man for the team. By the time you read this, the 25th year of Gus Macker with nearly 400 teams will be history. This huge of an event cannot happen with club participation and great leadership. So thank you to all involved. A special thanks to the co-chairs, Steve and Perry, for a job well done. I am sure they will hand out more thank yous (which might be our meeting) this Friday.

This & That

The pre-Macker meeting began with a prayer from Rick Gengenbacher which included a mention for a safe Macker tournament.

Mike Smith bellowed out an "I" like his bank was changing its name to begin the Pledge of Allegiance.

Rick Gengenbacher reported he is pairing score-keeper Mel Dillman with an official who is actually a preacher. One of the two will be changed by Sunday night.

Art Awerkamp, the chairman for our Flags of Honor program, mentioned that some 100 flags will adorn yards in Quincy on Memorial Day as the program kicked off with this past holiday. The Quincy High School football prayers set up the flags and took them down. Art thanked the committee and also Brian Koch who put together basically a GPS photo booklet with pin-point yard locations of the properties the flags were set up at.

For the seventh time during the run of our current 50-50 drawing, Rick Veihl came up empty as he drew an 8 of Spades. He missed out on winning $1,350. We thank you Rick for thinning the deck. This Friday's drawing will have only 12 cards plus a joker. One of the 12 is the Ace of Spades needed to win the pot. The joker will get you $5 back and another draw. It's getting down to it now. Thanks to Brian Koch for handling the weekly drawings.

President Moore mentioned that the board made a donation to John Wood's Community College's Children's College program. They also agreed to sponsor a team in the Mendon Golf Tournament. Contact Curt if you want to play.

Bruce Broemmel handled the tail-twisting duties with an accompanying joke from Sonny Christner.

Special guests with us included Clay Venvertloh, the son of Chuck Venvertloh. Clay assisted us with Gus Macker preparation.

Mike Lavery and Jeff Dorsey are spearheading the selection committees for the annual John Tripp Distinguished Service Award and Exchangite of the Year Award. Past winners, please present nominations to them at the meeting this Friday.
