2014-15 Lincolnland District Best Bulletin Award Recipient

This Friday
The kick-off of the Jared Haugh Administration is here. This Friday, we'll thank Curt Moore for his year of service and install the new officers - Jared Haugh as President, Brian Koch as President-Elect, Cory Watson as Vice President, Curt Moore as Immediate Past President, Chris Parker as Treasurer and Cullan Duke as Secretary. We'll also welcome three new board members - Art Awerkamp and Kyle Awerkamp for three terms ending in 2018 and Eric Barnes to finish out Cory's term ending in 2017. They will join continuing board members David Adams, Alan Musholt and Josh Klitz to round out your Board of Directors.
We'll also recognize our Bill Hageman Exchangite of the Year and John Tripp Distinguished Service Award recipient. We've got a couple of awards to present from the recent District Convention as well, so you won't want to miss the kick-off to the new year!

No meeting last week, as took the weekend off to celebrate America's 239th birthday. The weekend did see the third of four holidays for our Flags of Honor program. Kudos to Art Awerkamp for bringing this project to the club as a way to make a little money for our projects and bring a whole lot of patriotism to our little community. Each time we display the flags, we get more subscriptions. Coming soon, we'll walk a couple more neighborhoods. Now that we've got the logistics down, it's time to start ramping this project up!

This 'n That

Please remember that we'll be working on light fixtures for the Avenue of Lights every Tuesday and Thursday at Bob Scott's (out by Scotty's). Tuesdays start at 5:30 and Thursdays at 6. The more help we have, the quicker we get them ready to go!

The card draw is getting down to the interesting part - Brian may even put the Ace in this week! (just kidding). The pot looks to be around $1,700 for this week and we're down to under  10 cards now, so your odds of winning keep going up!

The National Exchange Club's Mega Raffle is in its final few weeks, but there is still time to get your ticket at www.exchangeraffle.com. $100 for a chance at up to $100,000! (If fewer than 2,200 tickets are sold, it will be a 50/50 raffle), While we're on National, check out the Bravelets - There are a number of bracelets that you could get for your significant other (or for yourself). They're $35 each and $10 of every sale goes to the NEC Foundation for Americanism and Child Abuse Prevention projects. The Big Dog won one as a door prize at the District Convention!

Line of the Week

A woman has twins and gives them up for adoption. One of them goes to a family in Egypt and is named "Ahmal." The other goes to a family in Spain; they name him "Juan." Years later, Juan sends a picture of himself to his birth mother. Upon receiving the picture, she tells her husband that she wishes she also had a picture of Ahmal. Her husband responds, "They're twins! If you've seen Juan, you've seen Ahmal."

Exchange Education

As we start the new administrative year, it's time for the membership to make a new commitment to our club. As you've seen in the past few weeks, we do an awful lot of good works in making Quincy a better place to live, work and raise a family.

Like any organization, though, you only get out of it what you put into it. We've taken on some good projects in the past year - projects that have the potential to greatly enhance our ability to help others - with our Flag program and the Avenue of Lights. To make these projects truly successful - especially Avenue of Lights - we need everyone to step up and help. Jared is putting together committees to get this event organized and the work has already begun! Soon, we'll be getting the Field of Honor rolling again, so don't wait to be asked - get in the game and volunteer!
