This Friday we all get to witness the installation of our new officers for the Exchange Club as President Chuck Venvertloh turns over the gavel to incoming President Curt Moore. If you have never witnessed this splendid event get ready for "Animal House-revisited" during the swearing in ceremony.

It was our Annual Exchange Club Golf Outing at Spring Lake Country Club. Special thanks to Jared Haugh for chairing this event and making it an enjoyable day for all who played. (Please notice the Perry Terwelp pose in the picture. Caption: "Its 300 degrees, hurry up and take the damn picture".) Special thanks to Chris Parker for handling the end of the day activities as well. Also, a big thank you to Matt Scheurman, the Spring Lake Country Club pro, for hosting us. Matt also explained the new grass situation at Spring Lake and even explained the proper way to replace a ball mark on the green. Matt was apparently under the assumption that one of our members would actually be able to land a ball on the green in the first place.

After listening to Jared Haugh's explanation of teams and the format, I felt it would be easier to find Jimmy Hoffa's body than play golf. (No, Jared I do not want to chair this event next year). The golf winners will be announced Friday.

By the way, the Exchange Club golf team of Chuck Venvertloh, Vic Welper, Doug Reed and Cory Watson captured 1st place in the 2nd flight of the recent Cornerstone Golf Tournament.

During the brief meeting, Chuck Venvertloh mentioned that a preliminary meeting was held for our proposed new Red, White and Blue fundraiser. More details will be coming.

Chuck also managed to identify Cullen Duke by calling him Colon Duke. How long has he sat with Cullen on the head table?

Jared Haugh presented the prayer with Vic Welper (I was told) starting the Pledge of Allegiance. It was so memorable, I had to ask who uttered the "I".

Josh Klitz gave us an update on Smoke on the River. One of the things being done now is the paperwork for the raffle we will be doing during the event. More to come in the weeks ahead.

This & That

The Lincolnland District meetings were held last weekend. Dennis and Joel Koch represented our club at the gathering in Urbana. Speaking of golf, the team of Dennis, Joel and Jason Koch, joined by Patti Molitor finished 1 under par, but out of the money at the Rantoul Exchange Club golf outing held in conjunction with the convention. By the way, if you haven't read your Exchange Today magazine which came out last week make sure you check out page 8. Dennis' picture is in there along with all of his accomplishments. Dennis is running for the National Exchange Club's Foundation Trustee. Good luck Dennis.

Congratulations to David Adam on winning 3rd place in the Illinois Press Editor's Association original column category for his columns about Quincy schools, his class reunion and a move from his home.

No card draw last Friday so the "swelling pot" remains stagnant. Figure that sentence out
