Debbie Reed, the President and CEO of Chaddock School in Quincy, will join us to discuss what's new at Chaddock. Chaddock recently announced plans for the construction of a new school on their 32-acre campus. This $12 million project will replace the current K-12 education facility.

Gus Macker was the topic as Steve Green walked us through all the preparation done for this year's event. We had 419 teams sign up which was 8 more than last year. Steve thanked all of the members who worked the Macker Tournament either during the event, prior to it and will be working post tournament. When it was all said and done, kudos go to Co-Chairmen Steve Green and Perry Terwelp on a job well done. Tony Wysinger headed up the Macker contingent after a two year hiatus.

A big thank you goes to the following chairmen for their Macker help.

This & That

Mike Elbe had the honors of presenting the prayer. Elvin Townsend threw us all into a tizzy when he began the Pledge of Allegiance with "Pledge" followed by a delayed "I". Might need a tail-twister extra buck for changing the words of the pledge.

Speaking of the tail-twister, there was none last Friday. In a quickly called board meeting after our meeting concluded, the board was asked if the Quincy Club would be willing to host the Lincolnland District Convention in June of next year (2015). The board said yes at which time Art Awerkamp and Chris Parker immediately volunteered to chair the Bar Committee.

Kent Anderson handled the 50-50 card draw worth "under 200" according to President Chuck Venvertloh. How is this happening? In any case the pot was NOT claimed as Randy Frese drew a 3 of Clubs.

Speaking of Chuck, he announced the next board meeting will be on June 9th at The Pier. He also announced the Flag Day meeting will be on June 13th.

Dennis Koch is looking for a couple more local residents who fly their flags properly so we can invite them for the Flag Day event.

Jeff Dorsey presented The News and seemingly picked on one particular table. Like John Tripp did before Macker, I died. He did it literally and I did it figuratively. Maybe no news is good news.

President Chuck, with 3 million Gus Macker shirts around to wear, chose to wear a Vote for Chuck shirt. His opponent's name is Jonathon. Wouldn't it be funny if he changed his name to Chuck as well? Just a thought!

We also had the honor of hosting three visitors from Dallas, Texas who are on a fact finding mission as they are thinking of holding a Gus Macker event there.

There were two other guests and they were Clay Venvertloh, son of Chuck Venvertloh and Tyler Green, the son of Steve Green.

Congrats to Sonny Christner . Sonny was on the latest Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. last week and was joined by his son, Dave. Thanks for serving Sonny and I hope you enjoyed the trip.
