Quincy Notre Dame Boys Head Basketball Coach Bob Sheffield, QND Girls Head Basketball Coach Eric Orne and QHS Girls head Basketball Coach Demond Dade were our guests with KHQA's Sports Director Chris Duerr serving as our Master of Ceremonies. As of this writing, the QND boys are dealing with a lack of size and are very youthful. As a result they are 5 and 14 on the season. Coach Sheffield is impressed with how hard his kids play and with his player's character. Coach Dade's team is looking for their first win of the season and is 0 and 19. He too has a team with very little experience and unfortunately lost their most experienced player to a knee injury earlier this season. Coach Orne's team is 22 and 2 as of this writing and has a very focused club. They are also very intelligent as well as the team is carrying a GPA of 3.8 this year. Following the coaches talks, a question and answer session took place and Chris Duerr was asked why there are so many quality area teams this year. His response was that there are a lot of quality players out there, more so than in past years and if anyone would know that, he would.

This & That

Jared Haugh, feeling the pinch of his kids being home too much due to school being closed, provided an uplifting prayer to begin the meeting.

Perry Terwelp, who brought his son to the meeting, stood up and showed the young man how it is to begin the Pledge of Allegiance with a boisterous "I".

After Sonny Christner drew a King of Diamonds from the 50-50 deck the pot of $675 grew even more. Thanks to Curt Moore for conducting the card draw.

Jeff Dorsey handled the Tail Twisting duties and even left the room to secure another buck from Dick Wentura who left during the process. He also charged President Chuck Venvertloh another greenback for not asking if there were any guests with us. That led to a joke told that might not have been had it been known a younger person was with us.

President Chuck again slyly reminded us that he is running for Adams County Clerk... again. Man, this election can't get here quick enough.

We began our greeter program last Friday as Charlie Ledbetter was the first greeter for the Club in some 20 years (future trivia question). In case you failed to see the concept behind the program, I will repeat it in this bulletin this week.

The Greeter Program is a long running part of the Exchange Club but has fallen into disuse recently (like for the past 20 years). The idea is for each member to get a personal welcome to the meeting each week and would be directed to the food line or the front table. They would also ask members to wear their badges and deposit a quarter which would go toward the $5 drawing at the end of the meeting if you wear your badge.

So each week we will ask two members to be greeters from 11:40 until 12:10 (or until Rich Lavery shows up) for the upcoming week. You will need to set up the badges which are in the locked closet in the meeting room. The greeter's names will be listed in the bulletin each week. If you cannot be there please find a substitute to replace you.

This Friday's scheduled greeters are Bill Stadler and Mike Smith.

The winner of the $5 prize for wearing their badge was Vic Welper. See it pays to let people know who you are unless you are under the witness protection plan.

We wish a speedy recovery to two Mikes. Mike Lavery, who underwent knee replacement surgery and Mike Brennan, who recently returned home after a stay at the hospital as well. Get well to both Mikes.
