Club Meets at Noon each Friday at Stoney Creek Inn, 3809 Broadway in Quincy
2012-2013 Lincolnland District Exchange Clubs Best Bulletin Award Winner
This Friday

Another great program is on tap as we will be honored to have Tom Leeper join us. An attorney by trade, Tom was a fighter pilot in serving his country and he will talk about the bombing of Hanoi on May 10th, 1972. Bring a guest for this one.

Another memorable visit from "The Commish", as he is known, as Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post Dispatch was our speaker. Rick discussed the state of baseball today. He shared his thoughts on the baseball Hall of Fame, the new catcher collision rule, and who he thought were the teams to watch this season ahead. Rick predicted the Dodgers, Nationals and the Cardinals would win in the National League and the Mariners, Tigers and Rays would win in the American League. Rick was kind enough to answer several questions from the audience as well including a couple from Cardinal Broadcaster Mike Shannon who was also in attendance.

Rick's latest book "One Last Strike" was given away to four lucky winners plus a Party Box for a game to the Quincy Gems this summer was also raffled off along with some Quincy University Baseball hats.

If St. Louis held their "Winter Warm Up" last weekend, the Exchange Club held our "Grand Slam Friday" with Rick and Mike in attendance. Rick's lovely bride, Melissa, was one of our many guests in attendance.  Thanks to Gary Peter's for securing the raffle prizes and for handling the humorous introduction as well.

This & That

Ron Fritts began our meeting with a rousing baseball related prayer (who needs a 7th inning stretch) with Mel Dillman inhaling as much oxygen as possible to utter the "I" to begin the Pledge of Allegiance.Rick Gengenbacher handled the tail twisting honors and not without humoring us with yet another Jeff Dorsey marital status update involving too few bullets (had to be there).

Jim Lierly held the winning ticket to select the winning card to win $618 but he drew a 10 of spades so the pot grows (so to speak).

President Chuck Venvertloh with yet another shameless plug (holding a sign) to vote for him for County Clerk

We had a second reading for prospective new member, Randy Dickens. The membership voted yes so he is set to come in and join us. Randy is being proposed for membership by Jeff Dorsey.

Line of the Week

Two lines this week. First to Rick Hummel for starting off with

 - "is there anyone else A-Rod can sue?"

and the second to Jeff Dorsey. After hearing Rick "rip" his New York Yankees chances, Dorsey said,

 - "Rick, I take my question back"
