This & That

It is hoped that we all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends and now it is full steam ahead for Christmas.

When we return the card draw will be worth over $406. That would be a nice Christmas present for someone.

Don't forget, The Give a Kid a Chance Dinner and visit with Santa will be held this Friday, December 6th at the Senior Citizen's Center. Charlie Ledbetter is chairing this event and could use some help. The dinner is at 6 and a visit from Santa comes around 7. Again, if you have never attended this event, try to attend this year. It will make your Christmas.

Speaking of Charlie, he is selling raffle tickets for the Marine Corps Reserve "Toys for Tots" campaign. Tickets are $5 each or 3 for $10 to win a $500 beef bundle from HyVee and a deep freezer from Menards. Second place is a $100 gift certificate to the Quincy Mall. Contact Charlie for tickets.

Don't forget the Club's Christmas Party will be on December 27th this year at the Quincy Boat Club. We will have music and "The News" that day as well along with some great food. That evening the Club's Spousal Christmas Party will be held as well.

December 14th is the date for the Special Olympics Basketball Tournament at QHS Gymnasium. We will be needing plenty of help to pull this event off so please sign up to help with this wonderful event.

A reminder we will collect tip money for our waitress from members during the next two meetings. We ask for at least a $10 bill.

In an effort to keep our membership informed on our latest additions to our club from time to time someone is featured in the bulletin to help us all get acquainted. This week it is Steve Eckert of First Banker's Trust Company. Steve is married to Maria and has two children Dave and Missy. Steve was sponsored by Bob Hays

Line of the Week

It is actually a joke this week. A woman went to the Post Office to buy stamps for Christmas Cards. She said to the clerk, "May I have 50 Christmas Stamps?" The clerk replied, "What denomination?" To which the woman said "God help us. Has it come to this? Give me 6 Catholic, 12 Presbyterian, 10 Lutheran, and 22 Baptist"
