Jim Benz led us in prayer supporting the victims in Moore, Oklahoma and asking for good sportsmanship for the Macker tournament.
Doug Greenwell began the pledge with the 9th letter of the alphabet. That would be "I" for those who can't count that high.
Bruce Broemmel twisted tails and included a funny joke as well. Sonny Christner also added a joke of his own as well.
President Perry Terwelp thanked Dave Poland for his chairmanship of the flag giveaway at the recent Dogwood Festival Parade. He also thanked Kirk Frageman for handling the court tapings last Sunday for Macker.
President Terwelp also revealed that the Exchange Club's team of Dillman, Terwelp (Paul), Goughner, and Nutt (sounds like a law firm doesn't it?) finished at 2 under par 70 in the Cornerstone Golf Outing. That was good enough for 2nd to last place. Last place went to Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Ronnie Milsap and Helen Keller. Our team did get first place in gin and tonic consumption.
Mel Dillman thanked everyone for their involvement with getting ready for Gus Macker and reminded everyone about the new vendors in Washington Park this year.
Chuck Venvertloh conducted the 50/50 drawing which was worth $984. The ticket was owned collaboratively by Rich Howell and Rich Zeidler. They drew the Queen of Spades so the pot grows even more next week when Miss Illinois draws my name out.
Just a reminder about delinquent dues. Please take care of that as soon as possible.
Our Flag Day event is set. We will once again have our family picnic on the evening of June 12th. The shelter house at Madison Park has been reserved and Dan Veihl and The Butcher Block will cater our meal with free shaved ice provided by Gengenbacher Ice. You are invited to join us for the meal which starts at 5:30 and then when the concert starts we'll pass out the flags to the audience in the park.
Don't forget about the Exchange Club Golf Tournament at Spring Lake Country Club on Friday, June 21st. Contact Jared Haugh for more information.
