Great food prepared by Jennifer Shaffer of J.J.'s Catering with assistance from Sonny Christner and Skip Rueter and wonderful music performed by our very own Zeke Cernea. Know Any Potential Sponsors?
Please be thinking of potential sponsors for our two major fund raisers, Gus Macker and Smoke on the River. It is sponsorships that make our events profitable which in turn enable us to donate the monies raised to go back into the community. If you have someone in mind as a potential sponsor, contact Tony Nutt or Mike Lavery for Gus Macker and Mel Dillman for Smoke on the River. Tony said his phone was ringing off the hook after I mentioned this in the last bulletin. Since Tony has a cell phone I found it hard to believe that it was "ringing off the hook". So lets make his pocket vibrate with ideas. |

This & That
The day began with a prayer from the Reverand Ron Fritts who actually thanked God for our beverages and the pledge was begun by Joe Bocke which was followed by members scrambling to find a flag to salute. Rick Gengenbacher handled the tail twisting for the meeting and gave anyone with a sweater vest a free pass.
Chuck Venvertloh handled the 50-50 drawing with Steve Green having the winning ticket but drew a losing 9 of Hearts so the pot of $301 goes up unless Chuck still has presents to pay for.
President Perry thanked Art Awerkamp for chairing the Hearing Impaired Christmas Meeting and he also read a letter from Kate Stegner thanking the Club for the holding the event over the years. Perry also thanks County Market for their donation of money to purchase the gifts for the kids. Perry also mentioned thank you letters from DCFS for holding the Foster Kids Christmas Dinner and from the Quincy Park Board for our $1000 donation to the Park Band. Perry also thanked Dennis Koch for his chairing of the Spouse's Christmas Party. With over 70 people in attendance it was a huge success. As Perry worded it, "see what happens when you have free drinks?" President Terwelp also presented his Mid-Year awards to Dan Selby for handling the Abundance Exchange Event and to Jeff Dorsey for being Santa at two functions and handling the bulletin each week. Dorsey also presented the news in honor of our late member John Tripp who was looking down on him saying "You can do better". |
