Club Meets at Noon each Friday at America's Best Value Inn
This Friday

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with Family and friends. It is our after-Christmas and pre-New Year's Party at the Quincy Boat Club which will feature the news and other things. Invite a prospective member to lunch and enjoy some great food and post-Christmas fun.

We had no meeting. As a result, Eric Schultz left town, Rick Gengenbacher skipped out of work a few hours early (so what's new), Steve Wellman delivered 50 more poinsettias, Rick Veihl cleaned off 100 snow filled windshields, Dennis Koch moved a decimal point and I extended my lunch hour at Kellys to 3 hours. Guess who had more fun?

A big thank you goes out to Dennis Koch for handling the Spouse's Christmas Party last Friday. We had a nice turnout and great meal and drinks at Tony's Too. I called the "rent a spouse hotline" for Bruce Broemmel and me for the event but they wanted a longer than 4 hour commitment. It's always great to gather socially away from the Club format and no one brought both their wife and significant other to the event and that was good.

This & That

The Pledge of Allegiance was uttered by students throughout Quincy School District 172 Friday morning since we weren't here to do it. Hopefully we all individually said a prayer for the victims of the Newtown shooting at 9:30am Friday morning (exactly one week after the horrible shooting took place). The only tails that were twisted were done by the elves on the reindeer to prepare for Santa's flight Monday night.

Friday, we could perhaps get a first chance to meet our newest member, Cory Watson, who was sponsored by Dick Wentura and approved by the club.

Please be thinking of potential sponsors for our two major fund raisers, Gus Macker and Smoke on the River. It is sponsorships that make our events profitable which in turn enable us to donate the monies raised to go back into the community. If you have someone in mind as a potential sponsor, contact Tony Nutt or Mike Lavery for Gus Macker and Mel Dillman for Smoke on the River.

Obviously we held no 50/50 drawing so the pot will remain near $300. Remember Rick Hummel's visit to the club will be on January 25th so plan now on inviting a guest for his appearance.

Joke of the Week

Did you know that according to the song, "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer", Santa has twelve reindeer? Sure, in the introduction it goes "There's Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen, Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen..." That makes eight reindeer. Then there's Rudolph, of course, so that makes nine. Then there's Olive. You know, "Olive the other reindeer used to laugh..." That makes ten. The eleventh is Howe. You know, "Then Howe the reindeer loved him..." Eleven reindeer. Oh, and number 12? That's Andy! "Andy shouted out with glee." The proof is in the song!
