Lori Bergman
Lori Bergman and Julie Lewis of Destination Travel

Lori Bergman of Destination Travel, pinch hitting at the last moment, was our speaker after a rousing introduction by President Perry Terwelp. Destination Travel has made some changes over the last year in that they no longer have an office with their local agents working out of their homes which has made the business become more innovative with more one on one time with their clients. The agents of Destination Travel will come to your home or business to discuss your travel plans. All of the agents have visited the areas they send people to so they have a first hand knowledge of the locations people are vacationing at. They provide a weekly newsletter and can be found on their website  or can be reached by phone at 223-8747. According to Lori, the most popular destination is of all places Italy. If you're looking for a special Christmas gift Lori suggested payment of a future booking, upgrading someone's tickets to first class or purchasing someone their own passport. If you are a Cardinal fan or know someone who is, Destination Travel has a four night trip planned for Spring Training in Florida with tickets to see the Cardinals play the Yankees and the Marlins. It would make a great gift and tickets are limited. Thanks to Lori and her co-worker Julie Lewis for helping us fill a speaker void last Friday.

Abundance Exchange
National Day of Service Project

Abundance Exchange

Thanks to everyone who attended the Abundance Exchange event last weekend at the Oakley Lindsay Center. Despite the picture (see insert) they did work hard for the Exchange Club's Day of Service. There were 117 8-foot tables of donated items from Christmas decorations to furniture to clothing  and electronics. Nearly 300 individuals came through Saturday morning to "shop".

VIP Dates

12/10 - Board meeting at the Pier (11:45 start time)

12/15 - Kevin & Elizabeth O'Donnell celebrate an anniversary

12/19 - Kent Anderson celebrates a birthday

12/20 - Jim Schlepphorst celebrates a birthday

12/21 - Spouse Christmas Party @ the Holiday Inn (No regular meeting that day)

12/28 - Club Christmas Party at Quincy Boat Club

This & That

Jared Haugh started us off with a rousing prayer followed by Les Sachs initiating the Pledge of Allegiance. Jared pulled double duty in handling the tail-twisting duties.

President Perry Terwelp reminded the members of it being Pearl Harbor Day. Hard to believe it was 72 years ago when the Japanese attacked the United States.

Perry presented Dan Niemann his membership certificate and also had a first reading of a new member prospect Cory Watson, sponsored by Dick Wentura who asked his best "good" question to see if Cory would like to join.

Charlie Ledbetter thanked all involved with the Give a Kid a Chance Foster Kids/Parents Dinner at the Quincy Senior Center. Several testimonials as to why we do that dinner every year including one from Carlos Fernandez, a first time attendee and one from Santa himself who had to defend himself from accusations of having his favorite beverage on his breath (NO truth to that)

Signup sheets were again on the table for the Spouse's Christmas Party which is set for December 21st at the Holiday Inn. The social hour is at 6, dinner at 6:30 and entertainment at 7:30 that evening. Make sure you sign up Friday if you didn't last week.

Chuck Venvertloh handled the 50/50 drawing with Jared Haugh holding the winning ticket. See what doing the prayer does for you. Jared drew a King of Hearts so the pot of $274 grows next week. Guess he didn't pray hard enough.

Not sure if we just forgot to do it or not, but we didn't have a second collection for our Exchange Club Christmas gift to our waitress, Jennifer. If you haven't donated be prepared for it this Friday. For the new members in the Club, we usually ask for at least a ten dollar bill from members.

FYI...Rick Hummel's visit to the club will be on January 25th.
