Friday Last

Hopefully you spent last Friday walking off all the turkey you ate the day before.  If you were one of the crazy people who went overnight "Black Friday" shopping,   I hope you weren't beaten up by the other shoppers trying to gain position. There is nothing worse than turning Black Friday into "Black and Blue Friday".

All the tables were set up at America's Best Value Inn just in case anyone decided they wanted to have a meeting anyway.  There was a silent prayer to start things out. After a series of Students of the Month honors, the Exchange Club lined up a speaker just in case. We were prepared to present the "Truant Student of the Month Award" but he failed to show up.

Guess what? The card draw jackpot remained the same s well. What a surprise!
Abundance Exchange
National Day of Service Project

Don't forget the Club's National Day of Service Project, The Abundance Exchange event is December 7th and 8th at the Oakley Lindsay Center. Dan Selby is chairing this event to assist Ron Fritts and the Unity Church of Quincy and he needs a significant number of volunteers to sign up for a few hours on one or both of those days, especially Saturday. Member's spouses and teenage children are also welcomed to assist. With some 1000 to 1500 people expected to go through the event, we will need the help to assist the brethren of Unity Church with this project. Please call Dan to let him know you can help at 257-3964.

This & That

Please be prepared as we will be taking a collection this Friday and next Friday as well for our Exchange Club Christmas gift to our waitress, Jennifer. For the new members in the Club, we usually ask for at least a ten dollar bill from member.

If you happened to see the TV coverage of the Thanksgiving Day Dinner at the Salvation Army, feel good about yourself. The Exchange Club donated $800 to the cause. The money went for the dessert served. Those shown with Cool Whip on their lips and chin can thank the Club for making that happen.

Once again, a reminder that this Friday, November 30th, is the night for the Give a Kid a Chance Foster Kids/Parents Dinner at the Quincy Senior Center. We can use a few members to assist with the serving at 6:30 that night. Contact Charlie Ledbetter if you can help with the meal and assist Santa

Quote of the Week

A little old lady is buying her Thanksgiving groceries and is in line at the grocery store and keeps staring at the young man behind her in line. She looks at him and says, "I'm sorry I am staring at you but you look just like my son whom I have not seen for quite some time". The young man replied, "I'm so sorry, is there something I can do for you?" She replied "Well, there is. Could you just say 'see you later Mom' when I walk out of the store? It would mean a lot to me if you would". The young man said "sure, no problem". When the old lady has her groceries all bagged up she starts to leave and the young man yells out "See you later Mom". She smiled and left the store. When the young man's turn came to pay for the two items he had, the store clerk said "that will be $158.27 cents". The man turned and said how can that be? I only had two items. That's when the clerk turned to him and said " Your Mom said you would pay for her groceries too".

Beware of scamming little old ladies!
