This Friday
It is basketball season and we have our annual visit of the high school coaches with us Friday. Sean Taylor of QHS and Scott Douglas of QND will talk about their boy's teams and Demond Dade of QHS and Eric Orne of QND will update us on the girl's programs at both schools. Rick Gengenbacher will handle the "pre-game show". We will also feature the November Student of the Month. |

Friday Last
Thanks goes to Mel Dillman and Curt Moore for putting together the Veteran's Day program for us Friday. Mel took us through his 22 month journey in Viet Nam and reminisced about stepping off the plane in Viet Nam to experience the heat and the smell and neither apparently was pleasant. He also shared having to endure a mortar attack while attending survival school. During the program Mel, with the help of Curt, showed us videos of a Bob Hope Show featuring Joey Heatherton, an anti-war song from Country Joe (McDonald) and the Fish from Woodstock, Eric Burden's "We Gotta Get Out of This Place" and The Stadler Brother's "More Than a Name on the Wall" where Mel paid tribute to Gary Paul Baker, his friend from Monroe County, who died in Viet Nam in May of 1970. The program concluded with a Gene Simmons video tribute to all the branches of the armed services... A special thanks to Brian Caldwell of Computerland who assisted with the audio and visual setup that was run flawlessly by Curt Moore.
There were several visiting veterans at the meeting. They included:
Frank Bange (Air Force) and Tom Reeder (Army), guests of Curt Moore, Adam Gibson (Army) and Zach Hastings (Navy), guests of Joel Koch, Jim Greenwell (Air Force) celebrated his 80th birthday as the guest of his son, Doug Greenwell, Brant Arnold (Army/Navy), a guest of David Adam, Roger McKenzie (Army), a guest of Rich Howell, Jerry Ebbing (Army-Purple Heart recipient), a guest of Mike Lavery and Richard Bradbury (Seabees), a guest of Sonny Christner . |
