East Valley Arabian Horse Association (EVAAHA)

EVAHA held its annual Beat the Heat All Arabian Horse Show at Queen Creeks Horseshoe Park on March 24-26th.  Total number of horses shown was 93.  The show is now 3 days with the Working Western Division expanded to 3 days including Trail, Reining and the new Ranch Pleasure class.  The show was a great success with the new Ranch Horse Pleasure classes turning out to be very popular with a total of 45 entries.

Regular classes and Championship classes were offered in Ranch Pleasure with veteran Arabian judge Leo Hansen as judge.  Many of the exhibitors were excited to show in a rated show after showing in non-rated shows.  In non AHA shows the classes consist of  rail work classes and pattern classes.  USEF and AHA only recognize pattern classes of which there are now 5 on the AHA website.  Also, Ranch Horse Pleasure is less strict than Reining so the horse's headset, clipping of horse, tack and attire are more working type so exhibitors felt less intimidated by this.  EVAHA is one of first AHA shows to offer these classes.

SUMMER FLAGSTAFF SHOW
EVAHA is investigating the possibility of hosting a summer show at Flagstaff Riding Center. The details are being worked out at this time. Dates being looked at are July 8-10.  Classes offered will be similar to what Beat The Heat Show offered.  Several Phoenix area trainers and exhibitors have expressed interest in having this show. It is a great get away from the hot summers that seem to go on forever in Arizona!

MINICIRCUIT SHOWS
EVAHA is hosting its next minicircuit show on May 14. Then resuming on September 17 and October 8.   Times and locations are on our website as well as any updates.

SUMMER CAMPING TRAIL RIDE

I'd like to thank everyone who helped make this year's Equine Affaire a success. Especially those who participated in the breed demo (Tommy Garland, Stacy Burdick-Taul, Valarie Boatman and Patty DeMott), and also to those that brought the beautiful Arabian horses for the booth (the previous plus Debbie Glasener and Christy McDowell). Thanks also to everyone who pitched in to man the booth; we had a lot of people so everyone had a chance to shop a bit also. A huge kudos to Mollie Krumlaw-Smith, Maureen Fehrs, Patty DeMott and Shannon Loomis who held the distance demo despite it being outside at 27 degrees (no telling what the wind chill was). That's dedication!
Sincerely, Mickie Newman
