Region 4

The Des Arab Club wishes to thank everyone who participated in the 2015 Treasure Valley Classic and Sport Horse Offsite Championship Show. Although small, by the end we had 60 high quality horses. It was a wonderful way to add points in a relaxing and fun environment with great vendors, sponsors, patrons, volunteers, judges/officials! Just about every one that came qualified for Regionals and/or Nationals! The classes offered had been pared down so that in spite of the small numbers, there were fewer than normal cancelled and one entry classes. We know that many different circumstances contributed to the small numbers and are starting to plan for a much bigger show next year as it was last year. Thank you to everyone for your positive attitude which made this show a wonderful success! Be sure to check out the Des Arab Arabian Horse Associations Facebook page as well as our web site by clicking here

New Mexico club partners with Therapeutic Riding

In honor of the Arabian Horse Association's "Celebration of the Arabian Horse Month" in May, the Arabian Horse Association of New Mexico has chosen New Mexico State University's Therapeutic Riding Program as their charity this year. AHANM will donate 10 percent of the profits from the horse shows it sponsors.  NMSU students and other members of the Therapeutic Riding Association will be volunteers at the shows.

Wendy Wilkins, Board member of AHANM, said. "What better organization for an Arabian club to
support than one that uses horses as therapy animals?"  The May initiative involves having an
Arabian horse elected as ambassador to the riding program for the 2015-2016 academic year. There were four ambassador candidates vying for election. Each cent donated to a candidate horse equals a vote, with the collected funds  donated to the riding program. The winning horse ambassador was announced at the AHANM 60th anniversary celebration at the end of the Zia Classic horse show Friday, May 15, at Expo NM in Albuquerque. She is SMU Spell Bound, a bay 16- year-old Arabian mare who shows in both English and Western Dressage and Sport Horse Under Saddle, and is owned by Wendy Wilkins.  She will appear at functions and events throughout the year to help highlight the work of the riding program.

Gov. Walker Honors Arabian Horse Month

A Wisconsin Arabian Horse Association member used the information and tools in AHA's "Celebration of the Arabian Horse" Marketing Toolkit to submit a letter to Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. A few weeks later, Gov. Walker officially released a proclamation declaring May as Arabian Horse Month in Wisconsin.

Arabians represented well at Midwest Horse Fair
Midwest Horse Fair broke attendance records with nearly 70,000 people in attendance. The Arabians of Region 10 put on a fantastic display, gave 2 demos, provided horses for every single judging contest class, and were in several clinics, including a saddleseat demonstration with Gayle Lampe. Stacey Dunn would like to thank all of the horse owners and volunteers from WAHA and WDHA that make the Arabian presence at the Midwest Horse Fair such a resounding success.
