Love to Write? Check out AHP Travel Awards
In 2013, American Horse Publications (AHP) awarded three students with $750 to attend the 2013 AHP Meet at the Peak seminar in Colorado Springs, Colo. There, students will meet and learn from top equine writers and publishers. Of the three finalists, one will be chosen as the 2013 Student Award winner and will receive a $1,000 cash prize. Do You 4-H in KY?
Earlier this month, the Race for Education announced the new $250 Kentucky 4-H Horse Program "Leg Up" Scholarship. All high school seniors involved in a Kentucky 4-H horse club are eligible to apply. Winners of the award will be able to participate in the Race for Education's Assets for Independence Program, which awards an additional $4,000 in scholarship funds. Learn more here. The National Reining Horse Youth Association (NRHyA) and Varsity Reining Club offer annual scholarship awards for youth member achievements inside and outside the show ring (like our Youth of the Year!). $5,000 in scholarship funds was awarded in 2012 alone. Judging Contests
Midwest Horse Fair - April 19-21, 2013
The Midwest Horse Fair is hosting an educational all-ages judging contest this year! The contest will include four classes, a set of 20 questions designed to build observation skills, and a written test for the senior (18+) division. The contest will be held Friday, April 19, with awards to follow on Saturday. Age divisions range from under 7 years to over 18 years, providing an opportunity for all to get involved! Region 10 - May 4, 2013
Ready to exercise your Arabian judging skills? Head on over to the Minnesota State Fairgrounds on May 4 for the Region 10 Arabian Youth Judging Contest at the Sahara Sands Spring Classic! This is a great opportunity to practice for the Arabian Youth Judging Contest at U.S. Nationals in October. More information about the Region 10 contest, including rules and how to enter, can be found online.
