2012 Youth of the Year

AHA was thrilled to recognize the 2012 Youth of the Year, Tori Oto, during General Session at the Annual Membership Convention in Denver, Colo. on Saturday. First and second runners up, Katie Johnson and Jackie Pakula, were also recognized in a presentation given by selection committee chair Debbie Price. Katie will receive a $500 scholarship, generously donated by Bill and Corky Fairchild and All Things Equine. For her achievement, Tori was awarded the Youth of the Year perpetual trophy and will receive a $1,000 scholarship from AHYA. Congratulations to Tori and all of our applicants for their considerable achievements!

Nov. 18 Board Meeting Recap
The AHYA Board of Directors and Executive Committee met on Sunday, Nov. 18 at the Annual Membership Convention in Denver, Colo. The main topics of discussion included themes for AHYA Convention and the resolutions passed by the adult delegation earlier in the week. For a complete review of the resolutions, please visit the Convention page of the AHA website. Contact your Regional Youth Director to learn more about what happened at the meeting.

The Arabian Horse Judging Contest at U.S. Nationals in Tulsa, Okla., was a great success. 25 teams and nearly 100 individuals competed for over $10,000 in scholarships, saddles and prizes. For full results, visit the AHA website.

 

The Youth Silent Auction at Convention also went well, bringing in about $13,000 according to preliminary estimates.

2013 United States Pony Club Annual Meeting

AHA is excited to be attending the 2013 United States Pony Club (USPC) Annual Meeting. The meeting will provide us the opportunity to meet active Pony Club leaders and learn more about the organization and its membership. The event is Jan. 23-27, 2013 in Westminster, Colo. For more information, visit the USPC website. 

 

36th Annual National Youth Horse Leaders Symposium

AHA will also attend the 2013 American Youth Horse Council Symposium. There, we'll get informed about the youth horse industry through workshops, demonstrations, discussions and presentations. The event is April 12-14, 2013 in East Windsor, Conn. For more information, visit the AHYC website.

FFA & 4-H Stars - We Want to Hear from You!

Did you or your team participate in the Eastern National 4-H Roundup or the National FFA Convention & Expo this year? Or are you planning to attend the Western National 4-H Roundup? We want to hear all about it! Send your story and 1-2 photos to us at youth@arabianhorses.org.

 

Holiday Fun

If you and/or your horse are participating in any holiday events this season, we would love to see some photos! If you're in a parade, attend a holiday show in costume, or just go for a winter wonderland trail ride, send a brief description and 1-2 photos to youth@arabianhorses.org.
