Thurman Chambers has devoted more than 25 years to leadership in the nonprofit sector; particularly, at rescue missions across the southeast. He is currently the Executive Director at Panama City Rescue Mission.

As a servant in the missions' field, Chambers has developed a comprehensive, Christian personal-development plan called "Power to Choose", which addresses the underlying issues of homelessness by substituting them with education, job training, employment and independent living. Of many things, Thurman's most notable gift to Bay County includes the establishment of Bethel Village, a rescue mission campus for women and children.

Chambers is originally from Arkansas and obtained a Business Management Degree from Georgia Military College in Atlanta. He is married to Teva and has three children, as well as a host of grand and great-grandchildren. He is a member of Panama City First Baptist Church.
