Welcome Spring, longer day light hours, clients, new subscribers and returning readers. 


Joy of moving Wonders of Walking was founded celebrating our default gait, walking. We were born to walk. Have you noticed how young children want to move? Do you see the excitement of taking their first steps? Walking  is good for us!
   

Walking offers physical, mental and emotional benefits. It can be a total body exercise. Move your muscles and change your thoughts. 

 

In December 2012, WOW had the opportunity of becoming an Alliance sponsor for PHIT America "A Movement for a Fit & Healthy America."  I traveled to Washington DC to participate in SFIA's National Health & Fitness Day on March 13th joining with 150 other fitness industry leaders to advocate on behalf of kids and adults (Carol M White Physical Education Program PEP and PHITAmerica).It is important to me that WOW be involved in a national movement which promotes a healthy and active lifestyle for all ages.  Read more  

 

Wonders of Walking recognizes if exercise isn't fun or enjoyable, most people simply won't do it. Becoming active or staying active is about the  journey, there is no finish line.

Mark Your Calendar 2013 Winter Training Sessions

WOW will offer a variety of programs for 2013. Here is a sampling:  

  • The official Portland Half Marathon training program launches in June helping you get ready for the half marathon and relay summer races.     
  • Race Walking  Friday mornings 
    Starting in April - Register NOW for this hands on coaching to learn or improve your walking gait / race walk technique.
    What me? Yes You Can!             
  • 5K, 10K Training
    This 8 week program begins May 4th - June 20th.
    Training, walking and racing a 5K is possible with a training plan and schedule.Or, maybe you want to double up to a 10K
    distance. How you want makes a difference.           
    • Would you like to go faster but seem unable to do so?
    • Have you experienced injuries when trying to go faster?
    • Are you tired of being 'road kill' on Portland to Coast?
