Make the Lupus Buddy Program Catch Fire

The Lupus Buddy Program - the first of its kind in lupus - is not even a month old (we launched it on July 15), and we already have almost 60 people signed up! Now that's something.

The interest in the program launched by the LFNC working with a volunteer coordinator tells us how valuable patients are finding it - not just in northern California but across the country. And although we couldn't be happier to see it take off among patients, one thing is holding us back from much broader outreach, recruitment and expansion: Funding.

You can solve that problem. Give just $25 (more if you can), then share our funding page with all your friends on your social networks. Donate now.

We started with a small seed funding from GSK, but we need to raise $10,000 more to help lupus patients from sea to shining sea. Why? We need time from program coordinators to match the patients, for orientation, for follow-up, for helping each pair of buddies at every stage. Give now, share and make it catch fire.

If you are a patient interested in the program, learn more, and sign up here. A program coordinator will be in touch with you. Any personal and medical information necessary to make the matches are treated with the highest degree of confidentiality.

Fall 2015 Conference: In A Word, Captivating (Video and Presentations Now Available)

We have just concluded our Fall Conference (held in Stockton on Saturday, December 5), and we want to thank everyone who joined us. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Dr. C. Michael Neuwelt for headlining the confernece, one of the foremost experts in lupus in the country. Special thanks also to Krystin Herr of the Arthritis Foundation for an excellent presentation on advocacy as well as to our patient panel.

Our attendees were engaged, curious, and present till the end - and connected with each other during lunch and after the conference. We could not have hoped for a better audience - it felt like no one wanted to leave! We hope everyone keeps in touch, and keep in touch with the LFNC.

Videos from the conference as well as Dr. Neuwelt and Ms. Herr's presentations are available on our website for anyone wishing to catch up or review the material. Please head to this page to see it all, again.

On December 7, 2015, the staff at DaVita Stevens Creek presented a check for $1,000 to the Lupus Foundation of Northern California (accepting on LFNC's behalf was Spandan Chakrabarti, Communications Manager). The check was delivered at DaVita's dialysis center in San Jose located at 275 Di Salvo Ave.

LFNC thanks DaVita, a patient-focused kidney care and resource center for its generosity and DaVita's staff for their dedication to patient care.
They'll be gone soon!
