Congress Listens to Lupus Advocates: House Passes the 21st Century Cures Act
Every year, Lupus organizations across the country band together and visit Capitol Hill to remind our lawmakers about the priorities of lupus patients, under the umbrella of the Lupus Research Institute National Coalition. This year, Congress listened! The House has passed the 21st Century Cures Act addressing key priorities outlined by advocates from across the country: - Strengthen National Institutes of Health (NIH) biomedical research
- Increase the numbers of clinical trials and streamline how they're conducted
- Increase patient participation in the research and drug approval processes
- Provide incentives to foster more clinical research, networks and clinical trials without compromising drug safety
An overwhelming vote of 344 members in the House cleared the way for passage as advocates everywhere celebrated that passage.
