Key Opportunities to Update Yourself on Lupus: Medical Conference, FREE Patient Education Class
A big part of the way the Lupus Foundation of Northern California serves its mission of bridging the gap between life with and life without lupus is by educating patients, the community and care providers. To that end, we invite you to join us at one or more of the following:

Patient Education Class (FREE): Our patient education class is designed to give newly diagnosed and other lupus patients the tools to manage the disease on a day-to-day basis, as well as the information you need to become informed self-advocates as you discuss treatment options with your physician and other care professionals.

The next Patient Education Class will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 11:30 am to 2 pm at the LFNC offices at 2635 N First St #211, San Jose, CA 95134. The class is led by trained instructors with updated material from the American College of Rheumatology. Please register here. Registration is free thanks to Fund-A-Need donors at our Annual Gala, but required. Family members and friends are welcome.

Research and Treatment Mini-Conference: Our semi-annual Lupus mini-conferences are geared for patients as well as medical professionals who wish to receive the latest updates on lupus research and treatment. Patients benefit from direct interaction with physicians and researchers at the top of the field, and California Registered Nurses can receive CEU credits for attending.

The next conference, focusing on lupus and integrative health, will be headlined by Dr. Barry Shibuya and Dr. Christine Elias (pictured above). Dr. Shibuya is the President of Northern California Rheumatology Society and Dr. Elias is a specialist on various forms of arthritis with special focus on lupus and its complications.

The conference will be held on Saturday, May 23 at 11 am at the Santa Clara Kaiser facility at 700 Lawrence Expressway, Santa Clara, CA 95051. Lunch will be provided.

Registration: registration is required for the conference. Registration fees are: $30 for non-credit attendees, and $50 for RNs seeking credit. Current LFNC members receive a $10 discount on either fee. Please visit this page to register.

LFNC's Mid-Year Online Auction is LIVE: Bid and Win While Helping Fund Lupus Programs

This is LFNC's first mid-year auction, but that doesn't mean we are novices at this. The mid-year auction has items ranging from the lupus pin to a hot air balloon ride, from movie tickets to VIP access to Hollywood and everything in between. The auction kicked off on Wednesday, April 15, and you can view it here.

While you are deciding on what to bid on, keep in mind that the proceeds from these sales will go directly to funding LFNC's programs focused on the northern California lupus community.
