LFNC Conference Wrap Up
We would like to thank all the attendees and speakers for making LFNC's 2013 Spring Mini-Conference on cardiovascular issues and lupus a success. It was a great learning experience for all of our attendees. Main speaker Dr. Laura Tarter (pictured above), director of the Lupus Clinic at Stanford discussed cardiovascular issues relating to lupus and what patients can do for prevention and treatment. LFNC's Founder and former Executive Director, Jo Dewhirst, lent a personal perspective to lupus related cardiovascular health. Atty. Liz Podgurzki of Angelina Valle & Associates briefed participants on the process for applying for disability as it relates to lupus. The new Lupus Initiative was discussed by LFNC Executive Director Rene Astudillo, while a panel of lupus patients and family members shared their stories and experiences in being advocates for lupus research, education and patient services. To learn more about The Lupus Initiative, please visit www.thelupusinitiative.org. The conference was made possible through the support of Questcor and Amgen USA.

Get Your Ticket to Win a Mercedes While You Can!
We are closer to our fundraising goal with the drawing than we have been with the past several drawings, thanks to your generosity. With the excitement building around the C-Class Mercedes that we are raffling off and our fundraising goal so close, we have decided to extend the drawing to June 9, 2013. This will give us the chance to reach our goals, as well as give anyone who's waited a little too long the opportunity to buy a ticket. If you've already bought tickets, of course, you could also buy one more (or three, or five!) To buy your tickets, please visit our website for complete instructions and to download a form. You may also call our office at 408-954-8600. If you're thinking, "Hey, June 9! That's 5K Day!" you're right! We will be announcing the winner at our 5K Run & Walk for Lupus. Come and be part of it! Over a thousand people will be on hand to cheer you on!
