21st Century Returns Call, following Agent's Calls to Farmers Service Center.
Just received an 800 number automated call from 21st Century (800-206-4852)
at 12:26 pm, which claimed to be my insurance company and thanked me for
using the automated system and for being a customer. I don't have a 21st
Century policy. I have my auto insurance with Farmers but not Homeowners and
I had called Farmers Insurance at 10:55 am (888-327-6377) and then Farmers
Insurance again at (800-909-777) at 11:04 am. Both times, I used the
"automated system" to eventually talk to a live Farmers policy service person
to get the policy service fax number. I called both numbers to see if it
would be the same. It was.
I called the 21st Century number back and got a recorded message that said
"Thank you for calling 21st Century Insurance. Your call may be monitored
or recorded. Which of these can I help you with? Sales, Policy Services,
Claims or Homeowner?" Famers Insurance was not mentioned in the original
call or this call back to the listed 800 number from 21st Century.
Kind of strange that I called Farmers Insurance but get an automated call
from 21st Century Insurance thanking me for using the automated service and
for being a customer. Also strange that it mentioned Homeowner and I
wonder if the system recognized that I don't have my Homeowner policy with
Farmers anymore. Do you think there is a glitch in the system? Very unnerving.

Insurers can cope with US $100 bn disaster
The growing market for catastrophe bonds has bolstered the insurance industry to the extent it could cope with a $100 billion disaster - bigger than that of Hurricane Katrina, the head of Zurich Insurance's general insurance division said.
Known as "alternative capital", the money investors are pouring into catastrophe bonds - sold by insurers to share the risk they take on for natural disasters - and other areas of the insurance industry is increasing competition and putting pressure on traditional players.
But the new capital also means the industry is more robust and able to cope with what Zurich's general insurance chief Michael Kerner sees as a growing trend of large catastrophe losses caused by climate change.
"The insurance and the reinsurance industry are at very strong levels of solvency, there is lots of capital in the business," Kerner told Reuters. "The industry can handle a $100 billion event, all the claims get paid, it's not a big solvency issue."

42-year-old Owner of Body Shop pleads guilty to wire fraud charges.
A 42-year-old Owner of Body Shop on Wednesday pleaded guilty to wire fraud charges. According to information presented in court, from June 2008 to November 2013, Antonio Govea Figueroa, the owner and operator of Tony's Kustom & Collision in Port Arthur, electronically submitted claims to Farmers Insurance for collision work. Farmers became suspicious of the invoices submitted by Figueroa, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney's Office. The inspection of 44 claims revealed Figueroa claimed repairs that were not actually done and claimed to use new parts when salvaged or inferior parts were actually used without the consent or knowledge of the insured, the release said. Figueroa faces up to 20 years in federal prison and restitution of $118,013.34 at sentencing. A sentencing date has not been set. The Enterprise 08.13.2014 |
