Namaste, Divine Brothers and Sisters,
Winter has arrived, and I am enjoying Albuquerque's daily sunshine even on chilly days.
While I am here, I will be doing two more pujas between now and March in which you can participate in absentia.
On January 24th, 2 pm - I will be doing the annual puja to honor Saraswati. Saraswati (Sanskrit: सरस्वती sarasvatī) is the goddess of knowledge, speech, spiritual discipline, music and the arts. She is the consort of Brahma, thus co-creator of all using mental creativity. Saraswati is considered to be the "mother of the Vedas." Saraswati's blessings of this puja are to increase your abilities in one or more of the items under her provenance listed above.
For those who send a donation, I will be praying for you individually and also remembering you at the puja. If you wish to donate before 10 am MST on Jan. 24th, please go to , and I will include you in my prayers and the puja.
Prem & Shanti,

CHANTING FOR CHANGE
Change is on the way, some desirable and some not so much, at least short-term. We do not have to be passive in the face of these changes, because we understand the power of collective chanting of mantras. Throughout the summer and fall and Martin Luther King Day, there have been widespread protests to change the policing so that black and brown men are not regularly killed. This is one way to make change in the Dark Yuga; another is to chant so much positive energy that the surrounding energy no longer supports the evil of the day.
Chamundeshwari
Chamundi is the fierce crone. Her bija is Eim, so her weapon is speech, the powerful vibration of mantra. Some say she is Durga; some say she is Kaali, but she is a unique Goddess churned out of the Ocean of Consciousness by the Celestials, when even they could not eliminate the demons Chanda and Munda. As you can see from her portrait, she is kind and loving to her devotees but removes the heads of the demons. The black or red colored Chamundi is described as wearing a garland of severed heads or skulls (Mundamala). She is described as having four, eight, ten or twelve arms, holding a Damaru (drum), trishula (trident), sword, a snake, skull-mace (khatvanga), thunderbolt, a severed head and panapatra (drinking vessel, wine cup) or skull-cup (kapala), filled with blood. Standing on a corpse of a man (shava or preta) or seated on a defeated demon or corpse (pretasana), she is described as having a skeletal body with three eyes, a terrifying face, drooping breasts, protruding teeth, long nails and a sunken belly. Chamundi is depicted adorned by ornaments of bones, skulls, serpents and scorpions, symbols of disease and death. She also wears a Yajnopavita (sacred thread) of skulls. She wears a jata mukuta, that is, headdress formed of piled, matted hair tied with snakes or skull ornaments. Sometimes, a crescent moon is seen on her head. Her socket eyes are described as burning the world with flames. She is accompanied by fiends and goblins. She is also shown surrounded by skeletons or ghosts and beasts like jackals, who are shown eating the flesh of the corpse the goddess sits or stands on. The jackals and her fearsome companions are sometimes depicted as drinking blood from the skull-cup or blood dripping from the severed head, implying that Chamundi, like Kaali, drinks the blood of the defeated enemies. This quality of drinking blood is a usual characteristic of all Matrikas, and Chamundi in particular. At times, she is depicted seated on an owl, her vahana (mount or vehicle,) also used by Lakshmi. Her banner figures an eagle, Vishnu's vahana.
These characteristics, a contrast to usual Hindu goddess depiction with full breasts and a beautiful face, are symbols of overcoming old age, death, decay and destruction. All the fierceness is the face shown to the evil ones, but to the devotees she is a loving grandmother/crone.
Chandi is associated with good fortune as well as disaster. Her auspicious forms like Mangal Chandi, Sankat Mangal Chandi, Rana Chandi bestow joy, riches, children, good hunting and victory in battles while other forms like Olai Chandi cure diseases like cholera, plague and cattle diseases.
You will find the mantras, among others, in the CD: Mantra Therapy for Restoration of Dharma and Peace. |

The works of Thomas Ashley-Farrand (Namadeva Acharya) (1940-2010) give unprecedented, detailed instruction in how to
empower yourself using the techniques of the ancient sages and rishis. He and Satyabhama have been given the mission by their Gurus Sadguru Sant Keshavadas (d. 1997) and Satguru Rama Mata to bring these teachings to everyone.
To that end, he wrote and recorded a number of works. He also traveled to North America and the UK to teach workshops, which Satyabhama is now continuing. She has also written a new workshop on Shiva & Shakti.
In 2016, we will lead a Pilgrimage Tour of India's Holy Places, visiting with the Shankaracharayas at Kanchi Math, Vishwa Shanti Ashram (our gurus' ashram), and doing fire ceremonies in the Himalayas, among the highlights of the trip.
We have founded a religious organization, Sanatana Dharma Satsang, (a 501(c)3 nonprofit) which has opened a Gayatri Temple in Beaverton, Oregon. The link to it is in the right column.
Our Bhakti Yoga House in Albuquerque, NM, will be the location of the 2015 Summer Program.
These works are offered in a spirit of service. We sincerely hope that they will further you on your path.
