Dear Friend,

Satyabhama (Margalo Ashley-Farrand,) and the Board of Directors (Rev. Parvati/Pat Murphy Johnson, Suan Yin, Rev. Bharata/Bill Barry, Rev. Sri Savitri Devi/Debi Sheetz) invite you to join/re-join Sanatana Dharma Satsang, a religious organization which is the founder of the Gayatri Temple, by paying your annual subscription.

We all find Sanatana Dharma Satsang and the Gayatri Temple to be a community of loving, like-minded devotees who have formed strong family bonds with each other, no matter how many miles separate this international group of devotees.  We seek to strengthen these bonds with each other and to make the organization grow stronger to serve all of its members better and better as the years pass.

To achieve these goals, we invite you to join with us and contribute your energy and your funds to make Sanatana Dharma Satsang and Gayatri Temple's maintenance and growth possible.

In Oregon, we have Healing and Gayatri Mantra meditation every Thursday evening and monthly pujas.  We have more than one pujari student almost ready to take the exam and increase the puja frequency there.  Frankly, there is not enough funding from donors to pay the rent and utilities without help from you, so please send your donation monthly through BillPay at your bank.

Many Blessings to you,
Satyabhama

Satyabhama purchased a half-acre property with large house and a 40'x20' Bhakti Yoga Studio for  hatha yoga, workshops, pujas/yajnas, and dorm.  After lots of remodeling, it was ready  for the Summer Retreat in 2012.  The 2013 Summer Program was also held there.

Satguru Rama Mata blessed the place to be a spiritual resource for us at the 2012 Summer Retreat.

Satyabhama regularly does pujas and yajnas in Albuquerque during Winter.

Future Plan:

Guru Rama Mata

Temple Community

Namadeva Acharya and Satyabhama planned to obtain 15-25+ acres in the Willamette Valley. OR, on which to build a Gayatri Temple, with altars to other deities. The land will have dome homes and dormitory facilities for workshop attendees. We plan to grow nut trees, herbs, vegetables and fruits, and use as much renewable energy as possible. Part of the space would be used to host several different types of healers.

If enough people come together, it will be a reality, perhaps on the East Coast.

These plans will only manifest with your assistance.

Swami Sivananda

Swami Sivananda, a great avadhut and guru and also friends with Sadguru Sant Keshavadas and Satguru Rama Mata, said "Share with others whatever you possess, physical, mental and spiritual. You will expand. You will experience oneness and unity of life." He also advises us about the wrong approach towards charity saying, "Charity should be given with faith, with modesty and with sympathy, love and affection."

He promised: "Many have achieved power, popularity, peace and happiness through the generous heart. Therefore, give plenty in charity. You will enjoy Peace, Prosperity and will attain purity of heart and Moksha (liberation)."

Sanatana Dharma Satsang, Inc., was founded in 2001.  It is a 501(c)3 tax-deductible religious organization.

The name Sanatana Dharma Satsang is a Sanskrit phrase that, loosely translated, means the ancient law/right path gathering of people together to learn and share spiritual teachings.

More specifically, Sanatana Dharma Satsang teaches and promotes:

  • The practice of ancient wisdom techniques, including especially mantras, pujas/yajnas (religious rituals), and meditative disciplines from the Vedic and Tibetan Buddhist traditions. The goals of such practice include enlightenment, prosperity, and healing on all levels of the body, mind and spirit. Another important goal is the ability to help other people to also experience such benefits.
  • Respect and understanding for all the world's great spiritual traditions, in the sure faith that although their specific doctrines may differ, their deepest essence comes from the same divine well of inspiration. In the words of Sadguru Sant Keshavadas, "Truth is One, Many are the Names."

Mantra Teacher Training Program

We are now offering certification as a minister with ordination through Sanatana Dharma Satsang, which will show your level of expertise and provide a legal shelter for spiritual counseling. The certification as a Mantra Instructor will be awarded after learning the materials and being tested by a written test and an oral test in person or via Skype.

Sanatana Dharma Satsang has certified 22 Mantra Instructors to date.

The materials and a full explanation of the course can be found on our Sanskrit Mantras and Spiritual Power website.

Pujari Training Program

We are training and ordaining pujaris in the practice of Puja and Yajna (Fire Ceremony). Baby blessings, weddings, funerals (obsequis) and other standard activities will be part of the training. The training consists of the student's learning to perform the pujas and yajnas, including certain memorized material, then being tested on the ability to pronounce the Sanskrit and perform the ceremony properly.   There are seven certified Pujaris, four of whom are also priests.

Priest Training Program

Those who become certified as both Mantra Instructors and Pujaris, will be ordained as Priests.  We have ordained four priests to date.

Acharya Training Program (by or before 2020)

Only certified Priests will be eligible for Acharya Training.

The training that is envisioned will be rigorous, in line with the principles of higher education. A combination program of mail or Internet lessons together with on-site learning and residency requirements is being considered. An acharya is a Master Teacher, thus the program will provide an education in teaching workshops similar to the ones which Namadeva Acharya has researched and currently teaches.
