Terri is already a familiar face to many in SW Portland, having served for many years as chair of Tryon Creek Watershed Council.  Terri will be supporting stormwater workshops, other watershed projects and events, as well as WRC communications with SW Portland residents.  Many thanks to West Mutlnomah Soil & Water Conservation District for funding this position!

Stormwater Challenge Workshop Series   

Build workshops: April 19 and May 3

Stormwater Challenge Workshops go into depth on how to design and manage for stormwater on residential sites with challenging conditions such as poorly infiltrating soils and steep slopes.  

   

Led by instructors Maria Cahill and Jamie Stamberger, in partnership with SW Watershed Resource Center and with funding from the West Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation District, the series continues with demonstration projects that will be constructed at local residences.

River View Natural Area Public Advisory Committee Meeting and Open House

The River View Natural Area Management Plan process has resumed and will be completed by the end of this year.  The Public Advisory Committee will be meeting on Wednesday, April 8th, and there will be a Community Open House on Monday, May 4th.  Details below.

Tryon-Stephens Headwaters Neighborhood Street Plan - Community Work Group Meeting

The Tryon-Stephens Headwaters Neighborhood Street Plan Community Work Group will be meeting on Monday, 4/8, 6 - 8 pm.  This meeting is open to the public; the agenda includes a review of products developed by PBOT and BES staff, including street and stormwater tools, a typology of streets, and a flow chart to match street and stormwater tools.

Want to help keep new invasive plants from taking hold in SW Portland? Join the Multnomah Weed Watchers!  Attend the upcoming training on Wednesday, April 29 to learn how to identify new, high priority invasive species and what to do when you find them.  Training is led by West Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation District (WMSWCD), Tualatin Soil & Water Conservation District (TSWCD) and Bureau of Environmental Services (BES).

Watershed Open House

You're invited to the Southwest Watersheds Open House.  Stop by on your way home for refreshments and to learn about projects to improve water quality, enhance fish and wildlife habitat, improve infrastructure, and restore watershed functions in SW Portland.


The culvert shown above is under Boones Ferry Road and restricts fish passage into the mainstem of Tryon Creek.  BES is working with partners on the Boones Ferry Road Culvert Replacement Project - one example of many that will be showcased at the Open House.  


Native Plant Grant Opportunity

The City of Portland's Bureau of Environmental Services, Community Watershed Stewardship Program, provides gift certificates for native plants to community groups or individuals that need seed money to help start or maintain projects beneficial to the local watershed.  Applications for these native plant minigrants are accepted year-round.
