2009 Gabriel Earth Day

Save time, save money and help out the environment by letting nature do your gardening!

Learn how your garden can function more like the natural system surrounding us. You will learn about your garden from the ground up - starting with the soil and its complex role supporting plants. You will also learn about gardening with native plants, which use less water and don't require expensive fertilizers and pesticides.  Finish with a tour of nearby site with native plant landscaping.

Summer + neighbors + watersheds = good fun!

Stephens Creek Confluence ProjectWe might be trying to avoid thoughts about another school year starting, but it still adds up!  Our backyards and creeks are teeming with growth, and many folks are spending long evenings outdoors after the midday heat recedes.

Now is a great time to get outside, explore your watershed and meet some of your neighbors -- both the people in your neighborhood and the birds, amphibians, and insects inhabiting your yard, nearby creek or park.

Join in the parade or stop by the watershed booths at Multnomah Days this Saturday.  Sign up for a Backyard Habitat Certification Program site visit and invite your neighbors to do the same.  Request a guided watershed walk to investigate the nooks and crannies of a creek near your house.  And...enjoy!

Multnomah Days is here!
Saturday, August 21
Multnomah Village, SW Capitol Hwy between SW 31st and the viaduct

10am: Parade
11am - 4pm: Street Fair: Vendors, live music, refreshments, Kid Zone

Want to get your watershed fun on?  Carry a watershed banner or the blue "salmon stream" in the parade!  Meet on the lawn to the north (right) side of the post office by 9:15am Saturday morning.  We will be toward the end of the parade lineup.
