Hispanic Conference Encourages All to Discover Their God-Given Talents
 
Nearly 200 Episcopalians attended the Hispanic Lay Leadership Conference June 17 - 18 at Camp Allen. Participants came from nearly a dozen Spanish-speaking Episcopal congregations in Austin and Houston. "Somos Misionarios (We are Missioners)" was the message brought by keynote speakers, the Rt. Rev. C. Andy Doyle, Bishop of Texas, the Rt. Rev. Hector Monterroso, Bishop of Costa Rica, and a delegation of clergy and lay leaders from the Diocese of Costa Rica. Read more here.

Texas Diocese Hosts Bilingual Godly Play Training
More than two dozen people from different parts of the world and different religious backgrounds gathered at Christ Church Cathedral, Houston to participate in the bilingual Godly Play training sponsored by The Episcopal Diocese of Texas June 10 - 12. Read more here.

ECW Says: Every Girl. Everywhere. Period.
The Diocesan Episcopal Church Women's board recently announced its support of a project to provide sustainable hygiene kits and health education to school-aged girls in developing countries. Read more.

Young adults who would like to spend a year in community and serving a local non-profit in Houston or Austin should visit the website to apply. This program provides the time and space for young adults (ages 21-30) to work for social justice, grow as leaders, and live in community. 
Social Justice Symposium at St. Stephen's, Houston, July 23
On Saturday July 23 from 8:30 am to 2 p.m., the Rev. John D. Epps Chapter of the Union of Black Episcopalians and Integrity Houston will co-host Transformation Through Reconciliation: Conversations on Race, Gender Identity and Women's Issues at St. Stephens, Houston (1805 W. Alabama, Houston, TX 77098) that will feature the Rt. Rev. Mary Glasspool, assistant bishop of the Diocese of New York, Barbara Lau, director of the Pauli Murray project and the Rev. Valda Jean Combs, Esq., civil rights attorney.
Incarceration & Reentry Conference in Houston, July 27-29
Project Curate will host a conference in July that focuses on the successful reintegration of people from prison back into mainstream. At Reimagining Incarceration & Reentry: A Community Approach, hear from criminal justice professionals, faith leaders and community organizations on how to bring about change in our communities. Speakers include Fr. Gregory Boyle, Anthony Graves and Dr. Ruth Armstrong. More information can be found here.
Iona School Adds Lay Programs to Study Offerings

The Iona School for Ministry now offers three tracks (Lay Theological Studies, Lay Preacher and Worship Leader) for the lay leader who wishes to enhance their spiritual formation and make a deeper commitment to the mission of the church. For questions about the new tracks and attending the Iona School, contact Julie Heath.
Next Discovery Retreat at Camp Allen, August 26-28
The third and final Discovery Retreat for 2016 will take place August 26-28 at Camp Allen. The weekend gathering assists participants in becoming intentional about discovering their God given gifts and talents and how these gifts might be used in the mission of the Church and is open to all confirmed members of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. Join a Pilgrimage to Canterbury Cathedral, Oct. 21-Nov 1
You are invited to join on an adult pilgrimage to Canterbury Cathedral, October 21-November1. The pilgrim group will journey towards Canterbury, visiting many sites along the way. Once there, the Very Rev. Dr. Robert Willis, Dean of Canterbury Cathedral, and Mr. Andrew Edwards, Director of the Canterbury Trust, will lead a behind the scenes tour. The size of the group will be limited to 36 adult pilgrims. More information is available here.
