The Archbishop of Canterbury wrote to all 37 Primates inviting them to attend a special Primates' gathering in Canterbury to reflect and pray together concerning the future of the Anglican Communion. The meeting, to be held in January 2016, will be an opportunity for Primates to discuss key issues face to face, including a review of the structures of the Anglican Communion and to decide the approach to the next Lambeth Conference. EDOT Seeks New Chief Financial Officer

The Episcopal Diocese of Texas (EDOT) is actively seeking to recruit its next Chief Financial Officer.  The position will report directly to the Bishop of the Diocese of Texas and will provide executive oversight and stewardship of the financial resources of the Diocese. Responsibilities include accounting, treasury and oversight for the investment portfolio. In addition, the CFO will serve as an integral member of the Episcopal Health Foundation executive team. The CFO will be a person of unquestioned integrity and will demonstrate the ability to understand and lead an interwoven, complex diocesan financial system. S/he must be a visionary and strategic thought partner who can help develop synchronicity and creativity in the use of diocesan resources to drive the mission of evangelism and service. This position requires personal interaction skills to facilitate work with people, churches, and other non-profit institutions. Approved Signs For Churches Regarding Changing Gun Laws

Starting January 1, 2016, new laws in Texas will allow openly carried firearms and concealed weapons into houses of worship. For faith communities wishing to regulate firearms in their buildings, Texas Impact has secured a bulk discount rate for signs that have been reviewed by state prosecutors to meet the legal specifications of the new law and must be placed at all entrances of buildings on congregational campuses. On Saturday, October 17, Texas Impact will host a "New Texas Gun Laws and Religious Properties" event in Austin to help people learn about the new gun laws and regulations and how they will impact faith communities in Texas. For more information on the event, click here.

ECW Retreat to Focus on Neighbor, Outreach, Fellowship

SSW 2015 Blandy Lectures Features Bishop Nick Knisely

Seminary of the Southwest and the Southwest Alumni Association are honored to welcome the Rt. Rev. Nicholas Knisely, bishop of Rhode Island, as the 2015 Blandy Lecturer, September 29-30. Named for the first dean of SSW, the Very Rev. Gray Blandy, the annual lectures are held over the course of two days on the seminary campus in the fall of each year.
