Relax, Kick Back or ....
|
Once you've had your fill of brews and bbq in the backyard this weekend there is plenty to do.
There are still some no cost or low cost cool places for hot nights on Eye Spy LA's Annual Outdoor Summer Entertainment Guide. For instance Janis Mann performs tonight at LACMA's Friday Night Jazz session, and this is the last weekend to take in some free Shakespeare in Griffith Park.
FYI: In case you were planning to go splash in the fountain at Grand Park LA downtown, it will be closed Labor Day weekend for a music festival. "Made in America" takes over the park and nearby streets which will be closed to the public now through Labor Day. The music festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday, presumably Labor Day will be cleanup day and the park will reopen to the public on Tuesday.
HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEKEND:
- The LA County Fair kicks off its one month of fun this weekend.
- Fiesta Hermosa brings arts, crafts, music and more to the beach at this popular annual Labor Day weekend event.
- Tasty tastes are available for the well healed gourmet at this year's Taste food and wine festival at Paramount Picture Studios Fri - Sun.
- On Saturday a Star Party hosted by the Riverside Astronomical Society will be held in Torrance.
- Cheers Elephant performs a free popup concert at One Colorado in Pasadena Saturday evening.
- Have you ever been to Lompoc (a bit north of Santa Barbara)? One reason to go is to visit the La Purisma Mission historic park, another is the Harvest Party this Saturday at Sanford Winery.
...and this is just the tip of the very cool iceberg - there's way more at www.eyespyla.com
PLAN AHEAD: September
TICKET GIVEAWAY: Win a pair of tickets to see the exciting world premiere of "PSYCHE: A Modern Rock Opera" at the Greenway Court Theatre on Friday, Sept. 5 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. In this modern retelling of the ancient Greek myth about the "original" princess, PSYCHE:A Modern Rock Opera is a stylistic musical hybrid of post-modernism and rock. A theatrical fever dream where the human princess Psyche and the god Eros fall wildly in love, but Aphrodite and Psyche's evil sisters may have other plans. When Psyche is spurned from her home, she is thrust into a netherworld where she is faced with challenge after daunting challenge in order to find her place in the world and of course, true love. But will she survive? Will she go the distance to overcome the wrath of Aphrodite to take her place in the universe as a true hero who will change the world and the very nature of love forever?
