EYE KNOW L.A. by Andrea Kirk
How much do you know about L.A.?

THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: Who is this Los Angeles historic figure? A park named after her (located adjacent to a famous landmark building) commemorates her achievements.

CLICK HERE to answer the question.

LAST WEEK'S QUESTION:  This looked like a cornfield to me in 2005.  But it wasn't.  If it was not a cornfield - what was it?

This was "Not A Cornfield" - a living sculpture by artist Lauren Bon. It is now the site of the Los Angeles State Historic Park located near the Metro Goldline Chinatown Station.

For more than 10 years now I've been photographing our city and writing about what's going on around town. As you might imagine the Eye Spy photo file is quite large.

I thought it would be fun to share some of the old stuff from the past 10 years with you.

HAVE SOME FUN: Share this with your friends to see if they know.

Al Fresco LA - Summer Outdoor Entertainment 2013 by Andrea Kirk

Levitt Pavillion

Summer in L.A. is all about the experience and not so much about the money. Grab your friends and a cooler, a blanket, and a picnic. You'll find plenty of summer events and low cost al fresco entertainment all over town.

Some of the best things in summer are free. Look around you're own neighborhood. You'll find free concerts, film screenings and theatre in parks, shopping centers, museums, and other nooks and crannies that have a patch of grass or some asphalt to setup a stage and some seating in. Downtown L.A...

"Night of Noir" Captured Aural Phantasy Theater at the El Cid

by M.R. Hunter

Night of Noir

It was a "Night of Noir" as cheesy and tasty as bad brie on a saltine cracker. These players are making a monthly go at it down in the El Cid. I suggest you find your sordid way down the boulevards to this rustic place that houses an eclectic group with a penchant for horror, comic books, live staged radio and terrors that will keep you awake at night like the flickering neon glow of a No Vacancy sign outside a motel on the side of a two-lane highway that leads to nowhere. No sense in keeping it LA Confidential. Like Fred Otash, I'm slipping you the skinny on a dirty rag that stinks of chloroform and is so hard-boiled you can chip a tooth on it....

Summer is heating up already and most signs will be super-hot busy and staying very active. Take time to chill out, stay cool, and don't stress the small stuff. The lunar eclipse will have us reflecting on the past. We may feel compelled to reach out to someone in the hopes of a reconnect or be the one on the receiving end of an extended olive branch. Avoid sentimentality. If there's a reason this person is no longer in your life, think twice before allowing them take two. In the harsh light of dawn, the moon's powerful influence fades away and leaves us regretful of going backwards.
