Have a Happy Weekend!

"Wolves": A Very Bloody Fairy Tale by M.R. Hunter

Wolves

Steve Yockey's world premiere at the Celebration Theatre mightily attempts to incorporate the romanticism of a love story between two men and a wolf that brings retribution in blood and fear. It is a mildly interesting concept but for all its intrusive narrating throughout and convenient exposition that does little to illuminate the whiny, neediness of a lonely man in a big city attached to faithless couch-hopper, the deeper connotations are completely absent which is imperative for these storybook stock characters to connect beyond the superficial setup...

Get Thee to "Paradise"...Y'all Will Have a Good Time Ya Hear

by M.R. Hunter

Paradise Musical

The world premiere of a kicky bluegrass musical at the Ruskin Group Theatre in Santa Monica delivers corn spun humor and wit with the refined subtleness of biscuits and gravy, but it leaves you feeling full and satisfied in spite of the hackneyed storyline and clichéd hillbilly characters.

This musical isn't attempting to be anything other than pure entertainment--it's fun, silly and seductively pleasurable. It appeals to a wide audience and for those who dig on bluegrass, the music with its banjo and fiddle up-tempo, especially the tongue-in-cheek, innuendo laden ensemble numbers are toe-tappin' delightful....

This is a month for self-actualization. Realize your potential and aim high towards your goals. Get real about what you want instead of settling for what you've already got. Stop being lazy! Avoid undue complacency. Reaching for what you want may be straining, scary and uncomfortable but good stuff don't always come so easily so buck it up. Most signs will be super-charged, making tackling projects a cinch so long as we don't procrastinate or wait for inspiration to strike. Trust the method to the madness. Swim with the current, not against now.
