Yes! There will be snow...

Pershing Square will host two popular annual events: On Saturday (Dec. 8) go to the Annual Winter Holiday Festival where there will be tons of snow and other activities for the kids to play with. Sunday (Dec. 9) marks the beginning of Hanukkah and Rabbi Moshe will light the Menorah. Enjoy Jewish folk singers, bottle dancers and dreidel fun at sundown.

NO HOLIDAYS HERE:

HOLIDAY HO-DOWN:

BRRRR? You'll find plenty of places to duck inside for some cool alternatives to the local cineplex on our  Entertainment calendar.

Woodland Hills Ice
Skaters on ice in Woodland Hills

SKATE AWAY: Rain or shine, rinks all over town stay busy with skaters showing off their mad skills or stumbling around for the first time. No matter your skill set, outdoor ice skating is the perfect way to spend the day (and work off a few holiday-indulgent calories). Don't worry if you can't perform a triple axel...read and watch how our own M.R. Hunter made learning to skate look easy breezy Here.

"Gatz" A Monumental Event at REDCAT by Kelly Hargraves

  The Great Gatsby

Since seeing actor Scott Shepherd in The Wooster Group's HAMLET a few years ago, I thought I could listen to him read the phone book... Well, I almost did. Just having sat through the Elevator Repair Service's 8 1/2 hour rendition of F. Scott Fitzgerald's THE GREAT GATSBY at the REDCAT.

It is a classic tale after all, even when told in an unconventional manner. It's one of those stories you should read yourself before seeing portrayed on stage, or in the upcoming movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio...

'Tis the Season to Glitter

LA Live 2012 This time of the year is alight with all that is twinkly and bright. There are a few favorite places we like to go and bask in all that glorious glow...

One of them is LA Live with its modern, high-octane atmosphere, multiple video screens and a rockin vibe. We recently visited LA Live and noticed that instead of an open rink, skaters now cruise around a more traditional looking 66' fake fir. Gone is the metal sculptured tree with its own dazzling light show. Our thoughts on this change are mixed...we were rather fond of the mod-tree and open air rink. Check it out and let us know your thoughts on our EyeSpyLA Facebook page or send us a tweet.

COLOR COORDINATED CHRISTMAS? 1958 by Charles Phoenix

Color Coordinated

Rarely if ever have I seen a living room with such an unexpected and original color scheme. Who, before or after this slide was taken, has ever dared to pair titty pink and aqua with mustard yellow and chartreuse?

And, just in case you haven't noticed yet, the Christmas tree is matchy, matchy too!...

It's the final push from Thanksgiving to Black Friday all the way up to Christmas and Hanukah. This is an excellent time to explore a new neighborhood, shop at local boutiques and attend seasonal festivities. Most signs will do better if they stick to a budget and practice frugality. Find ways to save by attending free events, using coupons or visit swap meets. Due to crowds, traffic and overall congestion, tempers might wear a bit thin. Remember the spirit of the holidays by not being a Scrooge. The next few weeks are optimal for starting your new year's resolutions
