An A-MAZE-Ing Fright Night! Halloween Horror Nights by Mark Share

This year's "Halloween Horror Nights" event brings together the sickest minds in horror to immerse guests in the living, breathing, three-dimensional world of the most notorious and terrifying creatures.

Universal Horror 2012
  • "The Walking Dead: Dead Inside," based on AMC's Golden Globe®-nominated and Emmy® Award-winning TV series
  • "Welcome to Silent Hill," based on the popular video games and film franchise
  • an encore performance by legendary musician Alice Cooper in "Alice Cooper Goes to Hell 3D"

An all-new "Terror Tram: Invaded by The Walking Dead," also based on the hit AMC TV series, unleashes hordes of flesh-eating "walkers" on Universal's world-famous backlot.

Corn Mazes, Nightmares & Pumpkins in Woodland Hills by MR Hunter

Creatures of Corn

Be prepared to scream, run and get lost in this all-inclusive festival of horrors located on the agricultural section of Pierce College in Woodland Hills. The newly expanded grounds include two longer corn mazes, one filled with ghouls and goblins, the other a labyrinth, and two haunted houses: The Factory of Nightmares and Insane Reaction.

Pumpkin Patch 2012

There are also kid-friendly rides such as a carousel, a petting zoo and a real pumpkin patch. There's a midway section with food vendors and treats, reasonably priced as well as a gourd store for that perfect pumpkin to carve...

If you live in the Valley, this is one you don't want to miss.

Haunted Attractions by MR Hunter

Over the years we've seen zombies, ghosts, monsters and mayhem...oh my! These are two of our personal EyeSpyLA-Halloween faves we've pulled from our crypt.

SEA EVIL AT QUEEN MARY'S DARK HARBOR

Queen Mary Halloween
Dark Harbor does very well with its specialized location, its special effects and overall production within the mazes. Guests will enjoy the spirit and atmosphere with the Queen Mary as its crown jewel of terror in the background. Each of the shipboard attractions has a theme that conjures up primal fears relating to perils at sea, 'Submerged,' "Containment' and 'Hellfire'-not exactly what you'd find on any Princess Mary cruise ship brochure. For those looking for something scary but different without going overboard on budget, the Queen Mary dares you to come on board...

LA's HAUNTED HAY RIDE IN GRIFFITH PARK

LA Haunted Hay RideWhether or not there are actual ghosts lurking in the old portion of Griffith Park's Zoo grounds is uncertain, but this hayride through the dark woods filled with monsters is almost as scary as the real thing. This Halloween event also features a traditional hay maze and a scaled-down carnival with a couple of foodie trucks and a few small rides. Kids will enjoy the carnival atmosphere, but adults will want to skip over these lesser attractions and just enjoy the thrilling hayride itself...

Jack-O-Cheeze Ball, How-To, Halloween 2012 by Charles Phoenix

The Jack-O-Cheeze Ball is a salsa-filled Velveeta ball Halloween party appetizer that melts into yummy queso fondue dip! Your guests will be mesmerized.

Jack O Cheeze Ball

Velveeta is an incredible medium to work in and is very under-rated in the sculpture world. I prefer working with Velveeta more than clay and even more than Play-Doh. And when you're done playing with it, you can eat it too. Tastes just like liquid mac 'n' cheese.

What you'll need to create your own Jack-O-Cheeze Ball:

Before Reality TV There Were Shows Like These: "You Can't Take It With You" by MR Hunter

YCTIWY Antaeus

It's difficult for classics to compete with the deluge of crap bombarding us on every flat screen. Isn't it nice when something doesn't rely on f-bombs, histrionic meltdowns, catfights and shameless exploitation to still be funny, relevant, touching and voyeuristically satisfying? That's what "You Can't Take It With You" at Antaeus provides which is more than I can say for my TV Guide. Tune into this show and give the sleazy, self-obsessed anti-heroes a rest for one night...

With the changing seasons and Thanksgiving on the horizon, most signs can also expect a significant change in their own lives. This obvious shift will be felt throughout November. We should take care of what we say and make sure our words match up with our actions. Election Day is upon us, but instead of promoting rhetoric, it would be better to study and examine the issues without making a big issue just to prove a point. Patience is highly recommended for most signs as many of us are operating with a short fuse. We should remain calm and collected.

Tap to go Metro - No More Paper Tickets by Andrea Kirk

No more paper tickets on Metro. Here is what you need to avoid frustration with your first TAP transaction.

TAP Machines

I was a bit late to the party on this one. The MTA began locking the turnstiles and requiring TAP cards during August and September. No more paper tickets. The ticketing has changed but it's actually quite easy to use. You will need to buy a $1.00 TAP card as a part of your transaction (if you have not already done so).
