Corn Mazes, Nightmares & Pumpkins in Woodland Hills by MR Hunter
|
Be prepared to scream, run and get lost in this all-inclusive festival of horrors located on the agricultural section of Pierce College in Woodland Hills. The newly expanded grounds include two longer corn mazes, one filled with ghouls and goblins, the other a labyrinth, and two haunted houses: The Factory of Nightmares and Insane Reaction.
There are also kid-friendly rides such as a carousel, a petting zoo and a real pumpkin patch. There's a midway section with food vendors and treats, reasonably priced as well as a gourd store for that perfect pumpkin to carve...
If you live in the Valley, this is one you don't want to miss.

Haunted Attractions by MR Hunter
|
Over the years we've seen zombies, ghosts, monsters and mayhem...oh my! These are two of our personal EyeSpyLA-Halloween faves we've pulled from our crypt.
SEA EVIL AT QUEEN MARY'S DARK HARBOR
Dark Harbor does very well with its specialized location, its special effects and overall production within the mazes. Guests will enjoy the spirit and atmosphere with the Queen Mary as its crown jewel of terror in the background. Each of the shipboard attractions has a theme that conjures up primal fears relating to perils at sea, 'Submerged,' "Containment' and 'Hellfire'-not exactly what you'd find on any Princess Mary cruise ship brochure. For those looking for something scary but different without going overboard on budget, the Queen Mary dares you to come on board...

LA's HAUNTED HAY RIDE IN GRIFFITH PARK
Whether or not there are actual ghosts lurking in the old portion of Griffith Park's Zoo grounds is uncertain, but this hayride through the dark woods filled with monsters is almost as scary as the real thing. This Halloween event also features a traditional hay maze and a scaled-down carnival with a couple of foodie trucks and a few small rides. Kids will enjoy the carnival atmosphere, but adults will want to skip over these lesser attractions and just enjoy the thrilling hayride itself...

Halloween Hits the Streets by MR Hunter
|
Trick or treat has never been so sweet than on the streets of LA. Even though the traditional art of going door-to-door for candy seems passe, big kids can still hop to the thrills and chills in every neighborhood. There's enough to see this time of year to make anyone go "Boo!" Here's one of our favorite Halloween street beats...
HAUNTED HOLLYWOOD HUNT
With Los Angeles rated as the fifth most haunted city in the U.S., Hollywood's claim to fame isn't only in the living, but in its dead too!
Out of the Box Events' popular 4th Annual Haunted Hollywood Scavenger Hunt offers a unique Halloween treat for those who'd rather think on their feet instead of being scared senseless. This public hunt is a fan favorite and keeps 'scavengers' on their toes as groups of up to six seek out locales, gleaning clues from the site and answering questions that lead to the next spooky rendezvous.

Tap to go Metro - No More Paper Tickets by Andrea Kirk
|
No more paper tickets on Metro. Here is what you need to avoid frustration with your first TAP transaction.
I was a bit late to the party on this one. The MTA began locking the turnstiles and requiring TAP cards during August and September. No more paper tickets. The ticketing has changed but it's actually quite easy to use. You will need to buy a $1.00 TAP card as a part of your transaction (if you have not already done so).

Summer is officially over and Halloween is right around the corner. We'll have a tremendous amount of energy due to the upcoming cooler temperatures. The start of October may see tempers flaring. Take whatever comes in stride. Most signs will be extremely busy and productive. This is an excellent time to push final projects up and out. There's an ideal window of opportunity for gains and lucky breaks until November, so maximize this Saturn and Uranus square. Then we can all relax just in time for the holidays. Stay the course and keep striving.
