Four Blocks of Big & Beautiful by Andrea Kirk

Grand Park Party The last block of Grand Park officially opens with a burst of fireworks. Eye Spy LA went to the Grand Park Block Party last Saturday to celebrate. I wouldn't exactly characterize this as a party, it was too subdued for that, but I have high hopes for this park becoming the central gathering place for everyone in L.A. that we have so lacked in the past. From the tone of the politicos that were speechifying at the event they do too and there are some interesting events coming up including a Pooch Party this Sunday afternoon.

Grand Park is a big and beautiful 12 acre space that spans four blocks from the Music Center to City Hall. Go Metro now from every corner of the L.A. area and transfer to the Red Line if necessary. Exit at the Civic Center station and you'll be right at the park. I met some gals who rode the Expo Line from Culver City with a little Pomeranian named Dolce Vida (dogs must be in a pet carrier to ride) and they were thrilled that they could now visit downtown so easily.

Crown City Theatre's "Dangerous Corner" Turns Out: Acting

by MR Hunter

Dangerous Corner

The irony is not lost on me that a show about truth requires a painful wallop of truth-telling in this review as it could've been a far more successful production were it not for all the ACTING. There was so much ACTING going on that I never felt myself transported (be it the 60s or the 30s) into the world of this play. I place blame chiefly on the vehicle, although I can see the potential were it handled with a keen eye on downplaying the sophisticate intrigues and instead focused on the truthfulness of the characters. A tall order but the cast fails miserably at the task. No one onstage seems to believe a word of what they are saying and therein is the first problem. If the actors don't believe it how can the audience ever hope to believe it too?

Tap to go Metro - No More Paper Tickets by Andrea Kirk

No more paper tickets on Metro. Here is what you need to avoid frustration with your first TAP transaction.

TAP Machines

I was a bit late to the party on this one. The MTA began locking the turnstiles and requiring TAP cards during August and September. No more paper tickets. The ticketing has changed but it's actually quite easy to use. You will need to buy a $1.00 TAP card as a part of your transaction (if you have not already done so).

Summer is officially over and Halloween is right around the corner. We'll have a tremendous amount of energy due to the upcoming cooler temperatures. The start of October may see tempers flaring. Take whatever comes in stride. Most signs will be extremely busy and productive. This is an excellent time to push final projects up and out. There's an ideal window of opportunity for gains and lucky breaks until November, so maximize this Saturn and Uranus square. Then we can all relax just in time for the holidays. Stay the course and keep striving.
