One Year Later: A Look at DACA
The United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) released a report summarizing participation in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program since its inception on August 15, 2012.
In the first year, USCIS received 588,725 DACA applications. As of August 31, 2013, 455,455 DACA applications have been approved nationwide. The State of Illinois submitted the third highest number in the US, behind only California and Texas. The overwhelming majority of applicants originated from Mexico (76%).

Cracking Down on Immigration Fraud
Across the country, individuals and groups are misleading families by posing as immigration officials and immigration attorneys. In August, in Missouri, for example, three were convicted and sentenced to prison for defrauding US immigrants.
Remember: Only licensed attorneys and representatives accredited by the Board of Immigration Appeals are authorized to practice immigration law.
The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has published a state-by-state guide for reporting incidence of fraud, and this blog post, released by Law Logix lists some common warning signs of a fraudulent provider.
