
It's hard to believe 2016 is here. But I guess time flies when you're working as hard as Milton building the future of our great city. The coming year is going to be huge for us, and today I want to tell you about some of the great things you can expect.

GET INVOLVED
Meet your neighbors and volunteer in your community! Better Together Milton offers both with the goal of building a welcoming community in Milton where residents of all abilities have the opportunity to participate. Join their next meeting Monday, Jan. 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the Bethwell Community Center (2695 Hopewell Road). Christine Johnston, founder and owner of Iron Horse Therapy, will join the meeting to discuss the Iron Horse programs focusing on therapeutic horseback riding activities for children and adults with special needs.

Registration for the spring season of the Hopewell Youth Association Baseball at the new Bell Memorial Park is open through the end of January. Register now!

2016 BUSINESS LICENSE RENEWALS DUE
Business license renewal packets for 2016 were mailed in mid-December 2015. Businesses have until March 31, 2016 to renew their license.

Milton Grows Green (MGG) is a citizens' volunteer committee. MGG activities are organized in a collaborative effort with the city to foster best-case policies and practices in protection of natural resources, greenspace and development.

PRIDE Teen Driving Safety Class
PRIDE is a FREE 2-hour program for both teens and parents that incorporates information about Georgia's Teen Driving laws, peer pressure, crash dymanics and parental influence on teens' driving habits. LEARN MORE

RAD Women's Self-Defense Course
This 12-hour Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) class teaches personal self-defense for women 13 and up. Students will learn about issues facing women today and self-defense techniques, as well as have the opportunity to participate in demonstrations.

Milton Mayor's Run/Jog for a Cause
The City of Milton is proud to bring the 13th annual Jog for a Cause to the community as part of the 7th annual Milton Mayor's Run. to be held at 7 a.m. Feb. 27 at Freedom Park located at Deerfield Parkway at Webb Road, will be available Jan. 15. LEARN MORE

IRON HORSE THERAPY
Iron Horse Therapy is a new non-profit to the City of Milton that offers therapeutic riding programs for children, adults and veterans with physical, cognitive and emotional disabilities at Iron Horse on Westbrook Road. This unique program provides individual instruction therapy as well as group activities, prepared by the participant's treatment team. Therapy sessions are performed in a low rider to instructor ratio by PATH certified instructors.
Iron Horse Therapy is dedicated to empowering children and adults with special needs through equine-assisted activities, one ride at a time with a policy of turning no family in need away.
