Conservation Subdivision draft ready for review

Planning Commission to review at June 24 meeting

MILTON, Ga., June 19, 2015 - After a tremendous public response to the Planning Commission's Conservation Subdivision Ordinance public input meetings, the City of Milton Planning Commission will review the draft ordinance at their June 24 meeting.

At the 7 p.m. meeting in City Council Chambers, Donald Broussard of Town Planning & Design will present and discuss the proposed Conservation Subdivision Ordinance which will allow for a process of creating subdivisions where units are planned to preserve more greenspace than current zoning allows. We hosted three great public meetings with Broussard that allowed an open dialogue about future growth in Milton, said Peyton Jamison, chairman of the Planning Commission.

"The commission looks forward to hearing the final Conservation Subdivision Ordinance draft and making a recommendation to City Council," said Jamison.

The conservation subdivision, which sets aside an amount of land for preservation, is one of many options among Milton's growing list of conservation and lifestyle initiatives.  Read about Mayor and City Council's Legacy Milton Initiative to see multiple opportunities for conserving land for future generations in Milton.
