Continue to stay off roads; emergency trips after noon

Temperatures to rise; Milton reports no power outages

MILTON, Ga., Feb. 13, 2014 - Milton Emergency Manager Matt Marietta urges residents to continue staying off the roads so rising temperatures and treatments can clear icy streets.

Due to full sunshine, a high above freezing and continued public works road treatments, drivers who absolutely must travel will be safer after noon, said Marietta.

"Even as temperatures rise, please be aware there will be icy patches in low areas, on bridges and in shade, especially on our smaller, two-lane roads," he said. "We urge drivers to stay home - but if they must travel, drive very slow, use extreme caution, and leave lots of space between you and other cars."

Marietta said Milton received snow overnight, but no ice. That meant residents reported no power outages.
