Artist's Rendition of
The THIN RING of the
Annular Ring of Fire
Solar Eclipse on April 29, 2014
over Antarctica
|
April 28, 2014 // Hi there, how are you? How did you fare in the hot energies of last week's Cardinal Cross? (See d etails on the Cross in my previous newsletter: http://ow.ly/w5eLE) In addition, scroll down for a brief review of that powerful, potentially life-changing experience.
Now, TOMORROW, Tuesday April 29, 2014, we will have an Annular (Ring of Fire) Solar Eclipse at 9 degrees of the sign Taurus at 2:14am EDT. I meant to get this newsletter out to you sooner, but just know the immediate eclipse experience lasts for at least 3 DAYS after the eclipse itself and you can tune in anytime during that time. (Some say the energies extend for 30 days or more, so it is present to you.)
This eclipse will close the immediate Eclipse/Cardinal Cross Vortex of April 2014. The full portal will culminate with the Full Moon in Taurus (Taurus Sun/Scorpio Moon) which occurs on May 14.
Solar Eclipses always occur at New Moons, which reflect the seeding of new potential to unfold into the future. So as the Vortex closes, a seed is planted.

This is a typical Ring of Fire during an Annular Solar Eclipse. The April 29, 2014 eclipse will have a much thinner ring.

The name (Annular) of the type of eclipse we are having tomorrow is taken from the Latin 'annulus' meaning ring. This is because, in an Annular Solar Eclipse the Moon does not cover the Sun completely, as it does in a Total Solar Eclipse. During an Annular Solar Eclipse the Moon is too far away to cover the Sun, leaving a brilliant ring along the edges. This is why an Annular Eclipse is also called a Ring of Fire. One of the special things about tomorrow's eclipse it has an especially thin ring. (See below for more info)
Eclipses occur in pairs (or threes, but always in pairs). The partner to tomorrow's eclipse - ie the eclipse that opened the April 2014 Eclipse and Cardinal Cross Vortex - was a Total Lunar Eclipse (TLE) that occurred on April 15, 2014 and was seen over the US. That eclipse was part of four Total Lunar Eclipses (called a Tetrad) which will occur between now and September 2015. For more information on the TLE Tetrad, see my previous newsletter here: http://ow.ly/wfUe0
The next TLE of the Tetrad (the 2nd of 4) will occur on October 8, 2014 in the same signs as the April 15 TLE (Libra and Aries), with the Sun and Moon reversing their signs. The Moon will appear 5.3% larger than it did during the April 15 eclipse. The eclipse take place near a location in the Pacific Ocean about 1200 miles SW of Hawaii. The entire October 8 eclipse will be visible from the Pacific Ocean and regions immediately bordering it. The northwestern 1/3 of North America will also witness all of the stages.
WHAT WE ARE PROCESSING NOW WILL RESUME ITS TRAJECTORY AT THAT TIME, October 8, 2014.
Scroll down for some thoughts about the energetic qualities of tomorrow's Annular Solar eclipse, with its energies cascading out of the Tetrad and into integration for another octave of spiritual evolution. The information offers some areas of focus and contemplation if you would like to tune in to the eclipse revelation.
Many Blessings,
Carol
I'm on Earth RIGHT NOW! This is me saying hello to NASA satellites On Earth Day, April 22, 2014, when NASA sponsored a project called #EarthRightNow, featuring something called a #GlobalSelfie: "For Earth Day we are trying to create an image of Earth from the ground up while also fostering a collection of portraits of the people of Earth. Once those pictures stream around the world on Earth Day, the individual pictures tagged #GlobalSelfie will be used to create a mosaic image of Earth - a new "Blue Marble" built bit by bit with your photos." A video and montage will be released in May. (PS the satellites waved back:) For more info: http://ow.ly/wfLjl

The April 29, 2014 Annular Solar Eclipse is a rare kind where the totality of the 'Ring of Fire' will only be visible for 49 seconds over Antarctica. In addition, the ring is especially thin. This particular eclipse is also rather unusual because the central axis of the Moon's shadow misses Earth entirely while the shadow edge grazes the planet. This is what's known as a non-central annular eclipse. Non-central Annular Eclipses are very, very rare. Out of the 3,956 annular eclipses occurring during the 5,000-year period -2000 to +3000, only 68 of them or 1.7% are non-central (Espenak and Meeus, 2006). The nearest Solar Eclipse that was this exact occurred on August 29, 1486, and will not occur again until January 8, 2141. - http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/OH/OH2014.html
The thin ring that appears for only a brief moment, and the non-central aspect of this eclipse, really set it apart. It is fitting that it is ending the Eclipse/Cardinal Cross Vortex of April 2014, as it was a special opportunity for raising our spiritual consciousness within a cauldron of intense change.
This eclipse is very brief, but very precise and 'on-point'. The clarity that can be gleaned by tuning into it is profound. It is like a camera lens, coming into perfect alignment and aperture with the light in order to snap and capture an instantaneous moment in time-space on Earth.

Sirius, The Shining One
|
At the time of the April 29, 2014 eclipse, the planet Jupiter *and its 67 moons* will be conjunct the star Sirius, The Shining One. This gives the April 29, 2014 Ring of Fire eclipse a Sirian quality. Perhaps it is a an instantaneous portal (49 seconds enclosed between 6 minutes on either side) to the energies of that great star. (See below for info on the timing of the eclipse)
For more information on Sirius, see my previous newsletter here: http://ow.ly/wg3se This newsletter describes how Sirius is directly overhead at midnight on New Year's Eve, putting us directly downstream from Sirius at that time. Tomorrow's Ring of Fire Eclipse provides the same opportunity, but in a multi-dimensional, paradoxical way.
Importantly, Jupiter, the Santa Claus of our solar system, is the transmitter of these Sirian energies. Coming through Jupiter, they expand and become especially auspicious and accessible. Jupiter is in the sign of Cancer and so Sirius could feel like HOME for many, especially those who already are resonant with that Shining Star.
Even though Jupiter expands the energies of Sirius, however, this eclipse is also very subtle and very very rare. It is a singular and rare type of alignment (a non-central Annular eclipse) that will not happen again until January 8, 2141 (as described in the previous section.)
It seems to me that this represents a very rare and auspicious opportunity to raise our consciousness to the exquisite energies of Sirius. Because Jupiter is in the nurturing sign of Cancer, it is open to all! And yet it has a ring-pass-not feel to it. Many will experience it; but only those who are profoundly silent and are able to tune in for 12 minutes (especially listening and attuning for 49 seconds in the middle of that 12 minutes - 6 minutes before and 6 minutes after) will access the encoded light and information, perhaps even stellar travel, hidden in this eclipse. Many will hear, a few will listen. Many will see, but a few will envision with the inner eye.
What's interesting is that this eclipse en toto lasts for 12 minutes and 49 seconds, a perfect 6 minute on either side of 49 seconds of total annularity. Jupiter, transmitter of Sirius during this eclipse, has a 12-year cycle. The number 12 may have special significance for this eclipse. And maybe we can leap forward 12 years in our spiritual evolution and light quotient in the 12 minutes of this eclipse. Sirius' light is stunning, and much wisdom is encoded there.

The shadow of the April 29 Annular Eclipse first touches down in Antarctica at 5:57 am UT (that would convert to 1:57 am EDT).
The instant of greatest eclipse occurs just six minutes later at 6:03 am UT. It lasts for only 49 seconds.
Then, 6 minutes later, at 6:09:36 UT, the entire eclipse ends.
"What does it look like at the focal spot for anyone hardy enough to cross the icy waste in Antarctica autumn? The Sun has made a shallow six-hour arch over the northern horizon, from right to left (as east and west appear in the southern hemisphere). During the last hour the silhouette of the Moon eats into the Sun from the west (left). So the Sun becomes a backward C, shrinking toward a semicircle and getting thinner. It dips leftward into the semicircle and getting thinner. It dips leftward into the horizon, so that only its top part remains. As the silhouetted Moon moves centrally onto it, both sink below the horizon. The perfectly central annular eclipse takes place below the horizon, off the Earth; you would have to take a great leap to see it - or be in an airplane." - Guy Ottewell, 'Astronomical Calendar, 2014'
At its most primal level, this eclipse is frozen, pristine, uninhabitable and otherworldly in its sublime beauty.

As far as inhabitable lands more conducive to eclipse viewing, most people who will see the partial solar eclipse on April 29 will be in Australia.
In the past two years, we have had two extremely important eclipses that were seen over Australia: On November 13/14, 2012 there was a powerful Total Solar Eclipse in Scorpio with the shadow-path over Australia. My newsletter (in 4 parts) on that eclipse can be found here: http://ow.ly/wfR83; In addition, on May 19, 2013 Australia saw an Annular Eclipse. Details from my previous newsletter (in 4 parts) can be found here:
Those in southern Australia will see the new moon obscure about 50% of the solar disk in their afternoon hours on April 29. In far-northern Australia (and far-southern Indonesia), observers will see only a tiny, tiny portion of the solar disk eclipsed by the new moon.
Partial phases of the eclipse will be visible in other places. Most of those areas are in the ocean - rarely traveled ocean, in fact - but the entire continent of Australia will get a good view. The best view of the eclipse will be from the island state of Tasmania.
The farther north you go in Australia, the less the moon will cover the sun. In Sydney, the eclipse will be at maximum - 52 percent covered. The sun will set in eclipse there. Skywatchers in the western parts of Australia will be able to see the end of the solar eclipse.
IMPORTANT! If you are within viewing range of this Solar Eclipse, please remember that it is NEVER safe to look directly at the Sun during a Solar Eclipse of any kind! Here are some safe viewing instructions, please heed them! http://www.mreclipse.com/Totality2/TotalityCh11.html

As in the soft and sweet eclipse; when soul meets soul on lover's lips. - Percy Blysshe Shelley, 'Prometheus Unbound'
Here are some links concerning this eclipse, including links for those who won't be in the viewing area and want to watch it live online. There are also animations which are great to view before the eclipse to get an idea of its signature on the earth.
Have a wonderful eclipse experience no matter how you interact with its wondrous energies:)

 | Video: 'OVERVIEW' - please take 19 minutes to watch this amazing video and possibly shift your perspective. It is well worth the time! |
Once a photograph of the Earth, taken from outside, is available, we shall, in an emotional sense, acquire an additional dimension... a new idea as powerful as any in history will be let loose. - Fred Hoyle, Astronomer and writer, 1948
Very recently (in February 2013) a short film by UK production company Planetary Collective was released. It reached more than a million views on Vimeo.
The timing of this video is remarkable, as it expresses the true solution to many of our problems and is specifically relevant to this powerful Taurus eclipse (Taurus holds the energy of EARTH). I must say that this video moved me to tears. It achingly captures Humanity's striving to Become and Embody the new awareness described above - love and compassion for Earth and all life on it.
The video (see link above) is called 'OVERVIEW' and describes the "Overview Effect", a cognitive shift in awareness reported by some astronauts and cosmonauts during spaceflight. The effect is described by astronauts who have taken that holy journey.
Here are some quotes from the video:
When we originally went to the moon, our total focus was on the moon, we weren't thinking about looking back at the Earth. But now that we've done it that may well have been the most important reason we went. - David Beaver
I think you start out with this idea of what it's going to be like. And then when you do finally look at Earth for the first time, you're overwhelmed by how much more beautiful it really is when you see it for real. It's just this dynamic, alive place that you see glowing all the time. - Nicole Stout
To have that experience of awe is, at least for the moment, to let go of yourself, to transcend a sense of separation. So it's not just that they were experiencing something other than them, but that they were at some very deep level integrating, realizing their interconnectedness with that beautiful blue-green ball. - David Loy On earth we see the Sun in a blue sky. In space you see the Sun as a star - you see the sun in a black sky. So you are seeing it from a cosmic perspective. - Jeff Hoffman When we look down at the Earth from space we see this amazing, indescribably beautiful planet. It looks like a living, breathing organism. But it also, at the same time, looks extremely fragile. Anybody who's ever gone into space says the same thing. Because it really is striking, and it's really sobering to see this paper-thin layer, and to realize that that paper-thin layer is all that protects every living thing on Earth from death, from the harshness of space. - Ron Garan There's this very poetic concept that a lot of people express: that there are no boundaries from space. And I've heard a lot of my astronaut colleagues say that. Unfortunately, it's not true, you do see boundaries. They're mostly the result of human impact: you can see erosion and clear-cutting of forests. - Jeff Hoffman After I came back, and tried to understand what this experience was all about, I could find nothing in the science literature about it, and nothing in the religious literature that I looked at. So I turned to the local university and asked them to help me with what I saw. They said, "Well, in the ancient literature we found a description called 'savikalpa samadhi'. That means that you see things as you see them with your eyes, but you experience them emotionally and viscerally, as with ecstasy, and a sense of total unity and oneness. And I said, well that's exactly what the experience was. And so it was rather clear to me, as I studied this, that it wasn't anything new, but was something important to the way we humans were put together. - Edgar Mitchell Definiton of' savikalpa samadhi' :: the highest of spiritual states of consciousness (each a samadhi), second only to nirvikalpa samadhi (infinite bliss). Descriptions online abound - "In this state the conception of time and space is altogether different. For an hour or two hours you are completely in another world" or "The body is in a trancelike state, but the consciousness is fully perceptive of its blissful experience within". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Savikalpa]
