Important News: Saturn and the North Node are meeting up in the skies (at 9 degrees of Scorpio) on September 18, 2013. This is a rare occurrence. First, the players:
Saturn is known as the Lord of Karma; but more importantly, Saturn is the Great Initiator. These two things are related. Karma can be seen as Opportunity - an opportunity to shift beyond previous limitations and long-held patterns that aren't supporting our highest good. So, Saturn's energy represents an opportunity for initiation into a higher level of consciousness - but only after we have paid our dues and cleared the decks of past debts, both energetic and material. Saturn stands at the threshold and holds us accountable, checking the balance sheet before we can pass through the ring-pass-not to a higher vibrational rate.
The North Node is a point in the sky that is related to the intersection of earth/moon orbits. For centuries the North and South Nodes have been associated with destiny, the timeline of past and future. The South Node is the past. It represents past lives and past experiences in this life. During our lifetime we are moving along the axis of this nodal line - away from the South Node toward the North Node (which is opposite on the wheel). The North Node is the future, our destiny, and the most progressive path for our spiritual growth.
The rarity of a cycle always adds to its importance: Saturn and the North Node are conjunct in this area of the sky only about every 148 years (but not always in the sign of Scorpio). Take a look at the unusual quality of Saturn conjunct North Node in Scorpio:
"Saturn has a 29-year orbit and the Nodes have a 19-year orbit. This means these two coming together in Scorpio is a rare event. About every 148 years or so, Saturn and the North Node do come back to being near the same seasonal cycles. For example, in 1865 about 148 years ago, Saturn and the North Node did NOT meet in Scorpio, though they did meet at the last degrees of Libra almost in Scorpio.
The same is true for 1717 when they came together in Libra but missed connecting in Scorpio. In 1603 Saturn and the North Node were both in Scorpio but their exact conjunction occurred in early Sagittarius. If we go all the way back to 1454 on November 29 both Saturn and the North Node were at 18 Scorpio - 559 years ago. Looking forward we only have to wait 148 years for Saturn and the North Node to again join in Scorpio on the 5th of November 2161 at 24 Scorpio." - Cayelin Castell, celestialtimings.com
Because this wonderful Opportunity happens to fall on the day before the Full Harvest Moon, and just four days before the Autumn Equinox, we can see how these several days in September become a portal of great potential. The Harvest Moon begins our reaping of what we have sown since the Spring - the seeds, i.e. projects and personal changes, that we planted at that time. The Autumn Equinox is a time of balance, bringing the accounts to balance and sorting out what we will be wheat and what will be chafe.
One definition of karma is: what you sow, you shall reap (from the Bible). Combined with the North Node, the message is: your progressive path awaits, but you must deal with 'your stuff' before you cross the threshold of this doorway.
It is as if the past 30 (or 148?) years of your life have been carved into a stone tablet. That tablet must be broken to pieces, a new stone taken out, polished and written on: with an updated mission statement. Free and clear of past burdens (drop the rock) you can then move more easily into the future. New structures will then be built for the next epochal chapter of your life.
In the sign of Scorpio, great intensity is added. Scorpio needs to be passionately and intensely ALIVE. So this new script we are writing now can't be hum-drum. It must be something that fills us with desire, passion and a deep feeling that "hey this is what I came here to do!" Here we are being initiated into the most passionate and fully alive expression of our destiny. Ask yourself - what would it take for me to live my most alive, exciting and passionate life possible. This can be made real, beginning now.
In addition, Venus is also near Saturn and North Node - by less than two degrees. This only adds to the passion and depth of this singular moment.
NOTE: this process doesn't have to take place in a single day! With Saturn cycles, you have at least a year to mold them. Saturn moves slowly in its process and then after a year or two what you have created gets 'written into stone' and becomes a firm foundation/structure upon which you will build.
So just pay attention to what is happening in your life this month. And at your Harvest Moon/Equinox celebrations, come into awareness of what your passion is, and allow Saturnian energy to help you make it real.
