The Educational Alliance

Choosing the Right Path

Dear Friend,

At 5 years old, I dreamed of going to college and becoming a doctor, but by 15, I thought that dream was unattainable. My family immigrated to the U.S. when I was young, and it was a struggle to navigate through NYC and the education system.

But I found the support I needed to achieve my goals when I started coming to the Educational Alliance as a sophomore in high school. I went to their Teen Center almost every day, making the trek down to the Lower East Side from my high school in the Bronx. Coming to the agency daily tied me to a supportive and encouraging community, and they worked with me to create a plan for my education and future.

As a junior in high school, I also joined the Alliance's College Prep program. Facing the maze of paperwork, from college applications to financial aid forms, I sometimes felt frustrated, even discouraged. In those moments, I turned to the Educational Alliance for motivation and guidance, and, with the agency's support, I'm proud to say that I've started college and am on the path to fulfilling my dreams.

Your support helps students like me

Going to the Educational Alliance every day after school put me on track for success. There are lots of ways to support after school programs at the Educational Alliance--learn how you can help the agency enhance after school education.

Thank you,

Dan
